Trout fishing and Les Miles

My son, two grandsons, daughter in law and I were camping and trout fishing in Missouri this past week. And of course we all had some type of LSU gear on. A man in a Crimson colored shirt and straw hat with a crimson colored band on it walked up to my oldest grandson (11) while we were fishing and asked if he was an LSU fan. My grandson answered "Yes sir." I just knew with what this guy was wearing that he was a Bama fan and was waiting for him to say so. He then asked me how the LSU fans liked Les Miles. I told him that 98% loved him and the other 2% didn't even like their mothers. He said he was a high school football coach in Oklahoma , Garber High School, and the last year that Miles was at Oklahoma State Miles had recruited one of his offensive linemen. Miles made a visit to the school and talked to the recruit and him. After visiting with the recruit Miles asked the coach if he could visit with the other sport coaches and teachers. The coach said he was happy to show him around. Miles stayed about 3 hrs and met all the other coaches, teachers, and staff.
The coach told me that he has been a big fan of Miles since that visit because of the class he showed that day. Since the player was being recruited by two other schools he asked what would the coach would do. The coach told me he told him he couldn't make that decision but if it were him he would go where Miles was.
The coach told me that the recruit, Brady Bond, went to OSU and was a starter last year and will be this year. The last thing the coach said was "I pull for OSU and LSU now."

You constantly hear good things about Les Miles as a person. We really have a classy guy as our coach. Hope this man stays around for a very long time.

I live in Bella Vista, AR and it is about a 30 minute drive to Roaring River State Park and I go there about a dozen time a year. Great place. The river is actually a spring that comes out of a mountain cave. If anyone has a chance to go there it is very nice.

From what I see, personable, approachable down to earth, real, even vulnerable (in a positive way) at times. His "goofiness" is part of that too, which makes him even more "real". I believe this makes him attractive as a person and coach and ndears him to recruits and the majority of fans. The others would just want the Nicktator.

How'd y'all do? I'm fishing the Big Horn River in September with a couple of buddies. We've been tying flies for two months for that trip. Not sure if we can last until September. And yes, I did check LSU's schedule first, though that's one of the few things other than my kids that can drag me away from an LSU football game.

This is where I go fish for trout on my in-laws property on the Provo River in Utah. We've caught a lot of Rainbow and Brown Trout and a couple of Steelhead. This site is a five minute walk through their pasture behind their home.
