I'm already excited for this defense as is. However, if this kid can focus and get his shite together, having him plug up the middle will be big for us.

I still don't understand why people think a 3 star JC defensive tackle is going to have a big impact. He could be the next Frank Herron/Greg Gilomore.

Chris Warner is a shell of a poster these days. What has happened to him? Alabama hate addled his brain, I guess.

I don't say this lightly, but they are the worst threads I ever read.

I've got to stop opening them.

They're not looking for a guy like that. Aranda wants his nose guard to be a penetrating havoc-creator not a two-gap space eater. Aranda's perfect nose would be Glen Dorsey not Terrance Cody.

This may be so. However, although I'm far from a football expert, it seems to me that if ANY defensive player can require two offensive players to block him, that would be a huge advantage. Whoever isn't blocked can rush the passer. If it's a run play, the linebackers can flow to the ball and not worry about the middle. jmo

On a side note, Valentine was a high four star out of high school, I think the highest rated DT in his class. It seems kinda funny that he would now be a three.

Well for some of you that dont subscribe to pay sites let me give you a little incite to this 3 Star Juco DT that you think isnt that great.

Travonte Valentine while he was here practicing was the most dominating DL we had on the roster. Multiple sources had him dominating a pretty damn good LSU offensive line at practice and there was even chatter of him literally body slamming Ethan Pocic.

Valentine if he makes it in for the fall will be an immediate starter at NT who will hold the LOS in the middle and command a double team every snap.

Aranda's defense is based on a numbers game and creating mismatches each snap, (3 on 2) or (2 on 1) etc. If Valentine can clog the middle then our linebackers and ends will be in much better situations to create plays on defense.

Jacob Hester was a lowly 3 star also.
