How does this work for kids enrolling in classes at there new school?

The transfer portal officially closed for underclassmen on Jan. 2, but that won't prevent Alabama players from entering. When the NCAA introduced portal windows, it made an exemption for players whose head coach departed their program. Once a head coach leaves, a 30-day window is immediately triggered for players on that team to enter the portal.
Given that Saban retired on Jan. 10, Alabama underclassmen will have through Feb. 9 to enter the transfer portal.

In all seriousness that’s not a whole lot of time for a college kid to consider transferring schools and relocating, when offers are going to be coming in from all directions

What if the Boise State Coach retired...Does the portal open for another 30 days for Boise State players? Never heard this rule.
