1. Tommy Hodson
2. Bert Jones
3. JR
4. Rohan Davey
5. Herb Tyler (my personal favorite)

Been discussed before but with all the "which QB better" I am curious yet again....

Guess it takes an old geezer like me to remember Y A Tittle. He's just in the Football Hall of Fame.

Well I didn't add him cause well I am young and I know more about him from NFL not at LSU.
I am going by just at LSU not NFL or else that list would look alot different.

Its all about what you mean by best.. best season, most talented, my favorite.. so combinung all three #1) Bert Jones (can't be anyone else), #2) this is tough because they are favorites for various reasons..Y.A. Tittle, 3) Mike Miley, 4) Rohan Davey, and #5) Alan Risher. I would put Mauck and Flynn over Russell, who if any of the above had his physical skills (Jones did) they would be #1. Russell is a story to himself. On ESPN they have a series about the biggest NFL draft busts of all times.. in 4-5 years Russell will be the new #1.

4 time all SEC QB
4 years of 2k+ passing yards
First QB in SEC to pass over 8k yards and had 69 touchdowns but not Top 5 LSU??

I'm always up for a little ridicule if you back it up. Are you a relative?

Were talking LSU not NFL, hell if we were talking NFL only one LSU QB would be on this list.

Was he all SEC his freshman and senior year, for real? I'll crawfish somewhat, if so. My gauge is not so much on stats, but on who I would want playing QB now - not based upon performance in the past, but I'll take that into account.

I remember he took it by storm his soph. year with Tony Moss and Alvin...

I understand. I'll take my medicine if need be.

But, would you plug in Hodson for Rohan, Mauck, Flynn, Russell or even Tyler or Jefferson? (not on stats)

I would he accomplished more at LSU than most have... Hell I think JR was the most physical freak of a QB at LSU but he did not accomplish what Hodson did.

I don't even know where to begin commenting on this statement...

Actually, I think Tittle and Jones would both be on that list. Tittle is in the Pro Football Hall of Fame, and Jones was the league MVP in 1976.

This is what Bill Belichik thinks of Bert Jones:

"As a pure passer I don't think I could put
anybody ahead of Bert Jones. I know he had a short career and the shoulder injury, but when
I was there and he was just starting his career, the success that he had and his ability to throw
the ball as a pure passer and as an athlete, it would be hard to put anybody ahead of Bert
Jones at that point in time."
