Kramer: 1-11
Freeman: 1-10
Duplantis: 3-12
Deichmann: 1-10

The rest of the team did a great job stepping up. I feel a lot more confident about tho team moving forward knowing we aren't done if the top of the lineup struggles. Between our excellent defense, our pitchers coming on strong and the bottom of the lineup having better ABs we are in position to make a great run.

That said, you aren't going to win many series and especially not sweep many when your top 4 veterans struggle like that. We were very fortunate our starting pitching was on fire this weekend.

Hunt Palmer jinxed them, he was touting the top four last week for carrying the team!!1

Baseball s a tough sport to handicap, but your point is well taken; the bottom of the order won the weekend and contributed mightily to the sweep.

But that's exactly what we just did.

Here's the thing, they're batting at the top of the order because they're proven producers. One bad weekend (in which we still swept) is okay. I'm more excited about the bonus production from the bottom of the order than I am worried about 1-4.

It's Pap. I know others like Watson produced, too, but that's nothing new. He was the SEC freshman of the week last week. What won this series was Pap's bat waking up.

Did he mean just Dups and Deichmann? Kramer hasn't carried anything lately and neither has freeman unless he means his defense which is phenomenal. Dups, Greg, Coomes and Smith with pap having some great ABs and Watson getting some big hits the past couple weekends has been carrying us.

I love it. We know they'll be hitting again soon and we saved their best for when we need it.

We handled Auburn without them.

Can't stand it when we sweep a very important series putting us in a much better position to close the season strong, when some idiot wants to complain because our clutch hitting did not come from the right people in the line-up. Maybe this weekend the "Chosen Ones" will come through with the clutch hits to make you happy.

As am I. The point of this thread is to point out how even though our top veterans didn't produce the rest of the team stepped up and led us to a sweep.

Yep. Pap, Watson, & pitching.

While true, this is why good teams are good teams.

They can win even when one aspect of the team doesn't perform (which is very common during short spurts in baseball).

Some of the hitters at the top still had clutch plays with walks, hit by pitches, sac flies, and defensive plays. But those kind a plays don't show up as hits on the stat line, so they can be disregarded.

He scored 3 runs and batted in 3 runs in the Auburn series.

ETA: LSU scored a total of 18 runs in the Auburn series so Kramer Robertson was involved in 1/3 of the runs scored. It sounds to me he "carried" a good bit....

I didn't get to see Saturday's game, but Pap heating up is awesome to see. Obviously the home run to put us ahead for good Friday was awesome (and clutch) but for me there was a little added bonus because he hit it left handed.

Beau Jordan seems to be heating up a bit right now too.

Sweep and the rant will still find something to grip about. It was too dark, or too hot, or too cold, the drinks were too wet.

Thanks to the OP. This is an interesting point, and may actually be reason for optimism.
The top of the lineup will likely come around.
Don't know what all these attacks are about,,,

DH was really the only position that I was kind of uneasy about. It won't be a problem if Jordan can continue what he's done recently.

Obviously I was worried about Pap's bat, but it's not like we were going to bench him b/c of it. It's awesome that he's on fire lately. Hopefully he can keep it up.

The team seems to be peaking at the right time.

Me either. I was never down on the team when we were struggling so why would I be now? Some people must have just looked at the stats and not even read what I said

He carries his Jordans with baseball spikes to and from the clubhouse everyday.
