Stupidity begets stupidity. The sad part is O was given a clear redirect from Blair and he didn’t take it. That should be a red flag for anyone that was listening.
I feel like people are just venting right now and need an avenue to call out stupid bullshite. Jboy was that avenue. You can say the fan base is visceral and shitty but you’ll see much of the same across other forums and/or teams.

Ok since that went over your head, let me rephrase it.
There's one person that's in charge of a multimillion dollar football program at LSU. That same person, on his radio show, that's publicly broadcast for anyone to listen to, embarrassed the school by addressing a crank caller. What he should've done was say nothing and be professional since he is the face of LSU football (for the time being). He couldn't do it. Even if he's really ticked off, he can't afford to make an already awkward situation worse and that's exactly what he did.

Ed should've said nothing or "that's unnecessary" and move on. He couldn't. Even Blair tried to get it back on track and brought up the game with Kentucky but Ed just had to address it further.

It will happen but it doesn't happen often. When the wheels come off the program and people get frustrated and ticked off because they love the school, invest/save a lot of money to go to the games and then the product looks like it does, they have a right to criticize.
What happened on the radio show went a step further but Ed has to be the better person. He couldn't do that. Just like he can't fix the issues with the football team he's in charge of.
Ticked off fans will get through the screeners, it'll happen.
