They also had Devin White as our 8th best player against Auburn. PFF had leonard Fournette as the 12th best player on the field vs Ole Miss last year. At one point he had 7 carries for 249 yards.

Toby when healthy is solid. He has struggled some but he missed a lot last year. Magee looked good at T though. Should it be Charles and toby ? Or Charles & Magee ? Or toby and Magee ?

Did he threaten to fight some PFF guys if they didn't rank him #1?

The statement by O was that him being back will allow the Tigers to "shift around.....Magee more"? Not clear what that means but is seems to sound like Toby and Magee at Tackle?

Our o-line was absolutely fantastic against Auburn in pass blocking

And they have been solid all year in pass blocking

Most fans simply blame the o-line when Etling flushes a perfectly clean pocket because his first and only read he makes was covered

It means he's the backup to multiple OL positions.

Starters probably are:

CHARLES- LT
BRUMFIELD- LG
CLAPP- C
INGRAM- RG
WEATHERSBY- RT

Its just a factual statement. Sorry facts make you mad. The Miss state game for example, where everyone melted how Etling had noooooo time, the line actually pass blocked above average.....When you have a QB who does not step into a clean pocket and progress on his reads, it makes a casual fan blame the line

Stats from miss state game and reality

Etling was pressured on 8 of his 29 dropbacks.

8/29 is 27%

36% is the average for an offensive line

Solid may be a bit strong here, but they haven't been as bad in pass blocking as people suggest. Presumably in an effort to create mismatches, we often leave an edge defender unblocked on PA passes. Unfortunately, due to our struggles with run blocking on interior runs, those defenders are rarely fooled, and Etling is left with a defender in his face once he finishes the unnecessarily long PA look and drop.

On traditional passing formations, out of the shotgun for instance, the OL has been pretty decent. Etling definitely has happy feet, much like Harris, and instead of stepping up into the pocket, he continues to drop and the DEs just rush straight up the field. You have to give your tackles a chance to block a DE, and stepping up usually does the trick.

Our passing game has multi-faceted problems, from scheme issues to WRs struggling to create separation to QB fundamentals. The OL hasn't been great, but the OL is not the biggest problem as insinuated on this board.

They have been above average in pass blocking situations for the full season. So I say solid.

They were fantastic against Auburn

Anyone who really watches football can see that the pass blocking, while not dominant by any stretch, is adequate enough to execute an efficient passing game. What people don't realize is that Etling will not stay in the pocket and let a play develop. The minute the first read isn't there, he bails and it ends up looking like the line isn't holding up. What's actually happening is when he rolls out of the pocket, lineman have to let go of their blocks or be called for holding. Then he absolutely refuses to slide (which I love his toughness), but ends up getting drilled and creating the idea that the line is responsible.

Yep.

Now, our run blocking is absolutely an issue this year. But alot of it seems to be not knowing their assignment. Multiple times in the run game this year I have seen lineman not blocking anyone. That isnt a case of getting blown back, that is a case of not knowing what the hell to do

How does this explain why Etling has been sacked 50 times in the first 3 games?
