The Michigan thread on the more sports board, what do you think the chances are that LSU expands the size of Tiger Stadium within the next 5-10 years, to get up to at least 100,000 seats?

considering that we are spending a couple mill on purple turf this year, i'd say 0%

Won't happen. I'd rather see LSU sink all that money into improving what we already have. The outside of TS is becoming laughable compared to what the big boys are doing these days.

You mean installing a Wal-Mart like they did @ Bryant-Denny???

It's possible. There is a whole lot of money in Tiger Football!

LSU isn't spending a dime. Field Turf is donating the turf as a test experiment to see how well their new purple + gold shades hold up without fading out from the daily Sun exposure.

This...and to make sure the pelicans and other marsh birds don't mistake it for water like the sea gulls do at Boise State.

I know the engineers that did both the upperdecks and they were designed so one of the ends can be closed in, but I heard that LSU would probably only add more Suites and Stadium Club.

Only the South Endzone can be expanded. If expanded the seating is suppose to go to 115,000.

That's just mind-boggling.

I think Skip Bertman put out the number of 115,000 and it was to include a Parking Garage on the South End also. That was a long time back!!

It was Joe Dean though, in '98. After three winning seasons our ticket sales for football went over the 50,000 mark for the first time ever. We only averaged 78K attendance back then with a stadium capacity of 79,940.

Yea I cannot see this happening anytime soon. I forgot the figure but my sports marketing teacher told our class last semester how much the yearly note is for the last expansion and it is an ungodly amount of money. It will be a long long time before we expand again...
