P.S. Is there going to be a "Zone" type area in the new addition for premium seats?
Thanks for the congrats...
If The Zone at UA is a stadium club, then yes, the SEZ will have one. The South Stadium Club is located where the windows are in the center area between the purple club seats.
This whole expansion in fact, is more about adding premium seating rather than general seating. Over 81% of the new seating is either club or suites. As of the last update, the SEZ addition adds 66 suites and 3,000 club seats and a new stadium club. The only general seating is the 1,500 or so at the top, and it's for visitors. The visitors seats will be just steps from restrooms or concessions. There will also be 800-1,000 SRO (Standing Room Only) tickets sold for up top.
With this expansion, Tiger Stadium will have the second-most number of suites at 136 to BDS' 157. But since Tiger Stadium's suites are generally larger (23 vs 16 for most BDS suites), Tiger Stadium will have a higher total suite capacity at 3,128. As far as club seating, Tiger Stadium has the second most at 6,200 total. Most other SEC stadiums have around 2,000-4,000 total. Only Arkansas's RR Stadium has more at 8,950.
To put those numbers in perspective, that's more than the total number of suites in any of the SEC east stadiums...UT's Neyland has 120, and it's a steep drop off after that. No stadium in the SEC east has more than 3,000 club seats to my knowledge. As far as the SEC west, BDS has 157 suites and around 4,000 club seats, TAMU's Kyle Field will have 114 suites and around 3,900 club seats, and Arkansas' RRS has 132 suites and 8,950 club seats. A steep drop off after those.

They need to stick visitors in the fricking nosebleed. Yet, they will get a much Better spot. Even though it's not in the lower bowl, they will be feet away from concessions, restrooms etc without missing any o the game. Plus it's new. They should be put in a dungeon.

According to those numbers, we should easily break 100,000. I imagine with games like Bama/AU/Florida the standing room only should put it into the 102,000ish range easily.

In that rendering of the upper deck expansion, there is more of a walled structure behind the scoreboard on the east side to mirror more of how the scoreboard on the west side looks. Wonder if they are still going to put that up or that has changed.

The reason the right scoreboard looks different than the left is because the supports and positioning are different. The right has bathrooms behind it, the left doesn't. They will look the same I'm sure.
But then you go against your reasoning:

Looks like the outside really will be light colored and it doesn't match the north...
Not at all...
The scoreboards will look the same.
The outside of the stadium doesn't match the north side color.
See how those are two different things?

I agree. 10x better than having two decks curved more around the south endzone without any symmentry to the north. This fills in the gap and makes an entire horseshoe around the top.

I was more talking about the outside than inside. all 4 sides were different from one another.

Because LSU recently refinished the north side with a lovely coat of that gray paint. I'm under the impression they'll do something similar with the new south side.

Okay. The north and south will be the best looking exteriors. Perhaps if they could figure how to blend the west into those. We'll see.

Maybe they will curve the two decks around the north and do a north end zone expansion to match the south.
Probably will never happen but it would look great. The total amount of suites would be insane.

I'm just trying to understand how someone can say the south expansion takes AWAY from the coliseum look. It's almost like he never saw what the south side looked like.

It depends on ticket demand. If there's still a season ticket waitlist longer than the organ donor waitlist, we'll probably just see a lot of general seating. However, if there's still a high demand for premium seating, you'll probably see an expansion much like the new south endzone.
We're talking 10+ years down the road, of course.

I'm still trying to figure that one out.
I remember we were all very surprised when the first design was released and they were trying to get back to that coliseum inspiration.

I wholeheartedly agree. The south, unlike the north, didn't look anything like the coliseum. With the new addition, it certainly does more resemble the coliseum on the south end.

I think a NEZ expansion would have only a limited amount of suites, and far more club seating. I would hope they'd replace the current "jumbotron"...if you can call it that...with something bigger. Instead of going with the corner screens like the SEZ did.

There is one truth in plumbing - water flows downhill. Maybe they should have put scuppers in the front of the seating so that rainwater would pour on the poor sap seated below.
