48 Former Tigers in the NFL, of those 48 only 6 are offensive lineman. And 1 of those is Sabans recruit. Is it a lack of talent or scheme issue?

No it's not lack of talent. Ole Miss put 43 on Bama, Oklahoma beat Bama in the playoff, TAM scored 14 early, Arkansas put up 30.

It's about offensive IQ. We have none. Those teams do not have more talent on their Oline that we do.

Lack of talent, possibility inability to understand zone blocking schemes at times. You can tell it's a talent issue when Alexander and Hawkins were getting beat around the edge by E. Michigan and Syracuse last year.

Our OL has been dominated every year by Alabama during this streak. Either it's a lack of talent, poor scheme, or a combination of both.

Etling isn't the kind of QB you need to beat Alabama, so that doesnt help, but when you get sacked 5 times and are under pressure most of the other times, your OL is at fault.

Grimes has still left me very unimpressed. Coach O is letting his guys coach and it seems like he's not willing to try many things different. The fact we are still trying to play guards out at tackle is pretty infuriating.

Edit - Might go back on saying lack of talent. Maybe it is more so poor conditioning and poor coahcing. The fact is we have NINE former 4-star offensive lineman on this roster currently. How we cant put together a competent line MUST come down to poor coaching.

We were dominated on the O-line. But you can't explain our playing against Ole Miss, or Ole Miss's playing against Bama. Etling had a horrible game, mix that with the worst officiating in the NCAA.

I don't think our o-line talent has been elite, but come on. There are only limited roster spots for O-linemen in the NFL and players are competing with literally every post-amateur football player in the country. 6 is a pretty good number.

I think it's a lack of talent and recruiting focus at the position. Look at the log jam of talent at the WR position even after 3 top WR's transferred out. We don't have a stack of high profile athletes at o-line. I think the Miles regime was too enamored with the skill positions.

I agree with this. Of our 5 starters, 4 were VERY highly recruited out of H.S. - Clapp, Pocic, Teuhema, Weatherby. Only Malone wasn't viewed as a stud coming out of H.S. I don't know if those guys just haven't developed much since being on campus, but I doubt it. The more likely culprit IMO is just poor scheme. There's simply no way Ole Miss should hang 43 on Bama and we can't score a single point.

Yes, some do. Arky consistently has bigger, strong olinemen than we do. Ole Miss' OL is better than people give them credit for. A&M is the one SEC team that has most consistently had comparable OL to bama.

But the main problem is lacking of development, positioning, and training.

your talking about abberations. lsu offensive line has been dominated the last 4 matchups. Arkansas scored 30 but gave up 48 I believe we gave up 10 and loss. ole miss scored 43 and gave up 48 we gave up 10 sat night. trevor knight ball his az off but what happen this yr leave the past in the past. point is Alabama gives up points however we have been getting our az handed to us upfront ask #7. 70 yds in 2014 31 yds in 2015 35 yds in 2016. you have a right tackle playing center, you have a left tackle that plays due to his last name and senority. im fire hot lol man aranda and them boys balled they az off they will probably be the only team to hold bama to 10 pts this yr. coach o and aranda for president. get me a good az o.c. and a qb who can play and we got a fighting shot every sat. and a offensive line who can actually push the def line forward and not get bowled over like boutte did, that was embarrassing. his az went back as soon as the ball was snapped, he could have at least kick his ankles and got a penalty for goodness sakes lol.

We have talent but to me they are playing the wrong positions.

Teuhema needs to be at RG.

Pocic needs to be at RT

Dodd can play center.

Malone still looking for his jock strap same with Boutte.

bring on kevin mawae. great attitude but he wasn't a great just because of attitude. he has to know technique as well.

bama had a couple of 5 stars but all our guys but one are 4 stars. these are good athletes.

agree with the poster about guys being out of position. you can't blame this staff and O for that. it's too late to be doing serious shuffling.

but we can give CEO and the offense when they play well but when they play bad. The quote above happens.
