Flash forward 3 years: we go into a 2 pm game in Starkville wondering if it's our final game of the year.

That should NEVER happen to LSU Baseball. Never.

Yeah, I thought this thread might be too soon. I was right.

I'm sorry. It's a good thread and a happy memory I have. I'm just disgusted by what transpired last night.

Are we playing with different bats than everyone else?

I realize this, but hitting the home run was an element LSU had that not many other teams had. It is what it is. Talent is there...

Not as much as you think. When Mainieri spoke about making major changes a few weeks ago, regardless of how well the season ended, he wasn't just talking about the coaching staff.

But to get back on topic, thanks to the OP for posting this. It's good to go back and see highlights of those games. Clark's homerun at Kentucky was also a blast.

True, but it hits younger teams harder and we are an extremely young team.

Yes. Yes it is.

Believe it or not, the kids on the field know how to play baseball pretty well.

I've seen them do it. That's how I know they are talented.

No. You haven't seen them do it consistently against decent talent. You haven't seen them do it on the road in the SEC for 2 years now.

LSU is not the only school with young guys. If people wanna say its bc they are young fine....but i don't think its bc they are young and need time to get acclimated with the bats. thats what the off season is far. its not like the first day of the regular season Coach P handed the bats out and said "oh by the way these are the bast we are swinging". They had plenty of time to swing either wood or these new bats this past fall. Just my .02.

Knowing how to the play the game isn't how you measure talent.

Ofcourse you've seen them do it. Less talented teams can play well and beat more talented teams, it is the nature of the game. That is why they play so many games, so the better teams rise to the top. We haven't, because we aren't.

It has less to do with "getting used to the bats" than the fact that younger guys are usually not as physically developed as the upper classmen.
