Those quarterbacks were none other than : Trevor Lawrence, Sam Ehlinger and Jeaux Burreaux. The previous ten P5 quarterbacks to meet those distinctions were all selected in the NFL Draft.

LSU is a team many are talking about this pre-season and for good reason. With blue-chip recruits everywhere, Ed Orgeron has one of the nation's most talented rosters. The defense, led by stars like safety Grant Delpit, corner Kristian Fulton and lineman Rashard Lawrence, is as good as it gets. Burrow is a big reason for optimism as well.

Entering this past season as a question mark, Burrow finished it with an exclamation point. He is now a key leader for a team with national championship aspirations. There is a lot to like with LSU, quarterback included.

I would add KC to that list of defenders. He was going to be a stud last year, just got injured first thing.

I’ll take 3966 yards, 43 TDs, & 6 INTs over Burrow’s stat line any day.

Is 2800 yards supposed to be impressive?

And is 15 TDs supposed to be impressive, as well?

How many LSU QB's have hit that mark?

Hint: Its a very exclusive group.

Ah
I forgot
He was suppose to come in and put up records with:

Only 3 months to learn the offense and everyone on his offense
An injured offensive line
Young WRs that dropped 40 passes
(If you take out all of the drops, he would've had over 3000 yards and a 67% completion percentage)
And an average running game.

Let's not forget he also put up 400 rushing yards and 7 Touchdowns too.

For an LSU QB? YES

When it was accomplished by a QB that was in his first year starting after 3 years of not starting? YES

When it was accomplished by a first time college starter who had been with his team and offensive system for 3 whole months before starting the season opener? YES

When he is one of only three P5 QB's to meet the criteria? YES

When the previous 10 QB's to match said criteria were all drafted by NFL teams? YES

If you don't like or follow LSU you would probably think it is not impressive though.

The end result of Burrow's LSU debut, with the Tigers going 10-3 and finishing as high as sixth in the national polls, was history. Individually, he became the first LSU quarterback ever with 2,500 passing yards and 350 rushing yards in a season, finishing second on the all-time charts with 3,292 total yards. Along the way, Burrow became the first LSU quarterback ever to lead the Tigers to wins over four top ten opponents. In a year where he set or tied eight different school marks

AND the baddest M'frickING LSU QB EVER did this to the Ole Miss DB that he had just embarrassed:

And the baddast M'frickING LSU MASCOT EVER did this in honor of the baddest M'frickING LSU QB EVER :

Oh, Jeaux has a message for you:

In case you can't read lips, he said "THIS IS MY frickING HOUSE". As he made Kirby Smart and his #2 ranked Georgia team his bitch.

This comment made me wonder how many QBs a season hit the 2800 mark, and how exclusive it is in a given year. Here is what I found from 2000 onward.

2000: 14
2001: 21 - R. Davey
2002: 35
2003: 35 - M. Mauck
2004: 21
2005: 28
2006: 22 - J. Russell
2007: 45
2008: 31
2009: 34
2010: 38
2011: 44
2012: 49
2013: 45 - Mett
2014: 45
2015: 44
2016: 45
2017: 44
2018: 41 - Burrow

Well since he was on the road against a team that finished in the top 10 and on the road against a team that finished in the top 20 team in their house he probably just congratulated them.

He had a huge smile though because he knew they were coming to HIS frickING HOUSE THIS SEASON.

FWIW:
Florida = Mullen taking Aranda to the wood shed.
Bama = Well Bama and three strings of depth at every position
A&M = No way in hell the $$$ at A&M was going to let LSU out with a win. It was the only game they had left to justify Jimbo's ridiculous contract.

With minimum practices with the team, compare that to all other LSU quarterbacks first season. Very impressive, wouldn't you say?
JR had Bowe, Davis, and Doucet all who were early round draft choices and all made NFL rosters.
