Thoughts on Simmons

First of all, there is no question he is the best to play for the purple and gold in a long LONG time. His ability is obvious. I've seen the media criticism of his decision to go to LSU. His recent tweet indicates he's happy with what he chose. And if you think about it, his choice has worked out fine as far as his future goes. Instead of one of three on a stacked Kentucky or Kansas team, he is THE MAN at LSU. Some say he's a one man team, but I don't buy that. I think there is talent around him that just hasn't matured or gelled yet. Call it coaching or whatever...doesn't matter. My point is that a top prospect going somewhere where his talent will shine like a light bulb is not that bad of an idea if you think about it. Think Glenn Robinson at Purdue back in the early 90's. Different type of player, but his skill set was featured because he basically was a one man team. Face it...Ben's choice didn't really matter....as his ultimate goal is the number 1 draft pick and the NBA. Well...he's pretty much got that in the bag. The opportunity to play with family (Godfather) is more important than following the trend. I think that speaks volumes of this kids integrity. So knock him if you wish....I respect the way this kid has handled himself, and I'm damn glad I've gotten to watch a future NBA star do his thing in purple and gold. Bash away.

I think very few fans have a problem with Ben. The ones that do are pretty pathetic.

Ben is awesome. He will be 1st lick and he is our best player in a long time.
That being said, we will keep losing as long as he is playing outside, instead of playing big man.
Wait till next year to run the floor and play nba style.
If he goes back to letting the guards bring the ball up and plays inside again (i.e. when he fouled out kentucky's whole team) we will win 5 straight.
If we keeps playing out of position, trying to bring the ball up etc, we will continue to have only 1 player (victor) bringing an interior presence, and continue to lose.
And TQ, jalyn patterson, and josh gray brought ball up the floor all year last season and we were 22-11, so dont give me any bullshite saying that simmons has to bring the ball up.
We need him to play as a PF to win. AD did it for kentucky as a C, and melo did it at syracuse as a PF. Simmons has to do it too. Be a SF when you get to the league ben. We already know you can run the floor and dribble.
Now go be a bully and save this fricking season bro!

I have yet to see a LSU basketball game this season so I cannot provide any thoughts on Simmons or any of the other players on this year's team. Going Saturday after the basketball game so ask me again then

Ben Simmons is a great talent and will be the top 1 or 2 pick in the draft, but he game is very fustrating, in games against lesser teams he looks great but against teams with better players he struggles to score, he doesn't finsh well if its not a dunk and he shy away from the ball or shoots in a close game inside of 5 mintues. To me LSU needs him to attempt 16 to 20 shots douring the course of a game and not have 4 shoot attemps in a half. Until he starts to be more aggressive they will be up and down team.
