Although, Im still not a fan of Les Miles as a football coach, he is still a great man and great representative of LSU. The difference I take from the quote below is, not only do I think the young players can learn something from this, but I believe a hard headed Miles can as well... Never too old to learn something new...
"Anyone ever heard of a "post turtle"? It's an Oklahoma saying. Farmer is driving down a dirt road and sees a turtle positioned on top of a wooden fence post. Farmer looks at the turtle and a few things come to his mind: " That turtle didn't get up there on its own. Why is it there? What dumb@$$ put that turtle there in the first place?" The turtle sees the farmer drive by. The turtle thinks, "Wow, I'm really up here, ain't I? I'm looking down at all the other turtles, bugs, eye level with the farmer and his truck. Whoa, wait... What the hell am I doing here? Where can I go now? I'm stuck until I fall."
The saving grace for the post turtle is that it has a hard shell to alleviate the impact of the fall.
My take? Let the season play out. LSU was definitely a post turtle that fell and landed upside down. When it gets its feet back under it, it will have a greater respect for the ground it walks on. It will move more determined. It will see the hill in front of it and realize that it can climb the hill and be much higher than the farmer's truck, without having someone put it there."

An old rancher is talking about politics with a young man from the city. He compares a politician to a "post turtle". The young man doesn't understand and asks him what a post turtle is.
The old man says, "When you're driving down a country road and you see a fence post with a turtle balanced on top, that's a post turtle. You know he didn't get up there by himself. He doesn't belong there; he can't get anything done while he's up there; and you just want to help the poor, dumb thing down."
