There was literally nothing about him in high school that said he was a SEC pitcher. Really and truly we still don’t know if he would be able to pitch in the SEC on a weekly basis. He has done great at Southern Miss and it looks like it was a miss by everyone not just LSU. In recruiting these things happen.

If you are asking me which one I would rather be on LSU’s team give me the guy that started the game Saturday over Hall. That dude I have no doubt could be a Friday night guy in the SEC.

Definitely a late bloomer. His K/BB ratio is 139/12! Incredible stat in any conference!!

I'm not worried about Tanner Hall. I'm just wondering if LSU can hit anyone, after watching them lay an egg against a a bunch of guys with high ERA's today. I mean, this was the bottom of their barrel, and now, they'll have at least some good pitchers available in the next game. This was where LSU had to get it done. I'm not saying it's impossible, but we are set up very poorly. Hilliard on two days rest after 55 pitches makes him available, and that's about all we know. Expecting him to go more than maybe 4 innings is a stretch.

We really gave this one away. Walks, bad outfield play, and bad at bats. Hope they can flush it quickly,

I agree with you 100%, I do not know many teams to hold LSU bats down 2 nights in a row especially with a depleted staff. we will learn from tonight's game and hopefully adapt. We swung at a lot of balls and we saw a 6'7 Lefty that threw pretty hard and had a little bit of movement to it. I do not recall us having experience against such thing even if he was bottom of the staff. They do not have anyone else on the staff that fits that category tho so that is a good sign.

This is all true but this team has been able to flush it and refocus it seems all year (2/3 @ Florida), Missouri sweep after being swept at Arky, Vandy sweep after Ole Miss.

Lets hope they can do it 1 more again.. esp now with a home super on the line.

Yeah, the problem is they usually don't flush it immediately. They have a few bad games, and a few good games, and that cycle has just repeated with this team all year. This time, it has to be immediate. There can't be any residual effect from this one. So I'm hoping we do see a focused team.

No coach will trot a guy out there that threw +100 pitches on 72 hours

I don't think they will, but you're actually wrong in saying no coach would. It's happened quite a few times. College coaches have their own best interests in mind, often times.

You'd think that guys wouldn't be effective throwing that soon, and often times they aren't, but some have the ability to do it. However, the lasting effects can be devastating to a pitcher's arm. But, we see it happen sometimes, anyway.
