Year in year out top 10 recruiting class,

Big hype going into season,

Winning over lesser teams.

Mealy-mouthed excuses,

Good record but, not enough to get to big dance.

Can you say Miles???

Such a lazy terrible comparison. There are many better ones in college baseball that would make more sense

These football fans don't know any other baseball coaches, Josh.

"No nonsense" and mediocre performance.

But he did win one national championship!

Mainieri is the only coach to be a national seed the last 5 years, lost to the champion last year and won the SEC the year before that. Miles was hovering around .500 in conference his last 5 years. I understand people are frustrated with post season play, but comparing Mainieri to Miles is just laughable.

As much as I want to blame this on Paul and curse LSU, ( i was joking earlier ) This is on the Closer. His job is to get those guys out, and he didn't. There is nothing paul can do to make Gilbert throw better. He didn't even throw that bad, they fouled off a shite ton of balls.

His performance at regionals & super regionals recently have been poor at best.

I don't think most are trying to draw a one on one comparison with Les. It's just a way to express exasperation at what appears to be significant underacheivement from expectations.

I hope you're right, but I've seen more than a few saying that Mainieri is the same as JJ and Miles which is just ridiculous.

Miles was a class act that his players loved. CPM is the antithesis of Les Miles.

Garbage ! Paul recruited Gilbert. Every loss eventually falls on Paul. He simply doesn't recruit well enough to ever win it all in Omaha again. He did in his early years but he doesn't anymore.

Most say he has too much talent to be losing a game. Now you say he isn't recruiting good enough players. Which is it?

I think a better way to express disaffection with the baseball team is to state plainly what they're getting at, rather than re-hashing the tired trope of "this is just like les all over again." It's dumb and lazy.
