This man deserves better performances than what he's being given right now

He's got roughly 6+ games left on the call as "Voice of the Tigers", and LSU is failing him. Really wish the football and basketball teams would've sent him out on a higher note than what they did/what they'll likely do. I honestly thought after the football meltdown in November, Benny and Co. would've saved the day...so far, that ain't the case. There's obviously still time, but it's not looking great at the moment.

Let's hope Johnny gets his squad right starting tomorrow at Thompson-Boling Arena...cause it's almost time for Jim to hang 'em up.

Here's to Jim and all the memories he's given us. Hopefully the Tigers give you a few more this season.

He gets a bad wrap on here, but I've def enjoyed his calls. My favorite is the "Tigers can't throw it in the ocean right now".

Nope. Jack Hunt hits one deep, caught by the shortstop.

Ole Jim will be fine. On the list of things I'm concerned about heading down the stretch of bball season, failing Jim Hawthorne is pretty much near the bottom.

He is LSU sports to me. I am 41, and every memory I have of LSU his voice calling the moment is attached to it. People are going to miss him when he's gone. Even the haters.

Oh God that is funny. I mean SNL level of funny. It may be the funniest thing any 3rd grader has ever posted here. Keep up the good work and by the time you get to the 4th grade you will be the funniest kid on the swings.

This board hates anything that's popular to the general public. Hawthorne is a legend and loved by Tiger Nation, so therefore Tiger Droppings must hate him.

I listened to some stuff from the new guy (can't remember name ) and it was awesome. Also really enjoyed his interview with Aranda.

I am glad we aren't replacing Hawthorne with a scrub.

you people cant be serious right?

just because something has always been there doesn't make it great. Slavery was around for a long time, it wasn't great. women were second class citizens for a long time, that wasn't great. Fidel Castro ruled Cuba for a long time, was he great? don't focus on the hyperbole too long, it was just to get the point across.

Hawthorne was definitely not great.

I remember one BBall game a few years back where LSU was up 1 with like 5 seconds left. His call was and I quote: "Arkansas in bounds the ball.....(silence)....Tigers win."

The only redeeming quality the guy has id that he is a genuine tiger fan. Even still, I personally cant wait for someone else to get a turn as the voice of the tigers.

Good point. Jim Hawthorne is clearly the Fidel Castro of play-by-play guys.

you obviously don't get comparisons well so ill dumb it down for you. the comparison was that just because someone or something is around for a long time, it doesn't make them or it good.
