Is this like when Miles says his offensive line will be the best he's ever coached, and then they struggle scoring 20 points a game?

Were you around when Carl Otis Trimble or Bobby Moreau took snaps. I was and assure you it CAN get worse. Trimble was so bad that Billy Broussard actually played most of his final home game despite totaling a car in an accident (and being pretty banged up himself) less than 48 hours before game time.
At least the coaching staff at the time finally figured out that Moreau might be better on defense and put him over there. He did a lot better there.
As for Trimble, he wasn't a great receiver, but he was better at that than quarterbacking.
Quarterbacking in the latter 70's really never picked up until Ensminger and Woodley took the field.
Felt for Broussard having to alternate with Trimble. He was originally supposed to alternate with Mike Miley and did for one year before Miley left to do pro baseball. Took the program several years to recover from that.
