every other game has some meaning. troy is not this bad.

just 2 things I can think of to keep an interest in this game. 1. the focus of the team. can the staff keep the team focused to take care of business? none of this letting Chattanooga hold onto the ball and us not scoring until late in the second quarter. 2. will miles brennan get a quarter or more of play and get to sling the ball?

after this, the season starts and keeps picking up steam. Geaux tigers!

I really want to see the defense shut out the first two teams of the season.

As long as I can watch my tigers, pour my drink, and eat my pizza, I don't care who we're playing.. Let's ride

this game has ultimate meaning if a Louisiana newspaper runs an article that rocky top is chatanooga's song and not Tennessee.

in 2000 a Tennessee paper said tiger stadium is dead and the football gods smote Tennessee.

so if a Louisiana paper says that rocky top is not Tennessee's song the the football gods will smite LSU.

fricking 'A' man, fricking 'A'. I"m hopeful I can my negative as shite attitude out of the way before the end of the first quarter so I can enjoy the last three.

Should be a fun one.

That will be interesting to look for. For years, we have had a history of being sluggish in these games. Jacksonville State, Furman, Towson, Eastern Michigan, etc. are all examples of this. It would be an encouraging sign of improved discipline and mental focus if we come out sharp and put the game away early.

I really want to see the defense shut out every team leading up to SEC play. I think they can do it too.

imo, a game like this is needed for the team, esp a team as young as we are. and I also like it as the second game of the year as opposed to the first. face it, it is a "practice game" and should be used to hone some skills, improve on the previous week and continue to give the QB's more reps. we could give our #2 QB a whole quarter to play; even a half, and with the #1's so he can get meaningful experience if and when we need him later in the year.

I don't like "saving plays" for later; I think we should open the playbook up some. so MSU sees them. we can beat this team with vanilla plays but I think our guys need to play new plays in a game. also, we should be able to work on the weaknesses in game one, esp our red zone failures. this game affords us the freedom to throw to the EZ more as we should be able to overcome a turnover.

Just 10 years ago when LSU played a rent-a-win team you had to buy it on your Satellite TV for 25 dollars. Now all the LSU games are on TV for free. Count your blessings.

Just like some young boys need a good whore to bolster their confidence and get them started, teams need a whore-game or two to iron out a few kinks and get some kids used to playing college football. Most of the time you can recover from your mistakes in these types of games. The other point is that LSU will have plenty of opportunities to get into bad-assed beat-up games when they get into the meat of their SEC schedule.

Just curious, you think our team gets more experience running these plays against our d, or a glorified highschool? I get it, real games or different...but running those plays against our d can't be a bad thing.

There comes a time that it is good to be playing with someone other than yourself.

fair question. I think running plays against our defense is valuable but that defense knows our plays and what works may not be the same thing in a real game. also, a real game, ANY game, is a time when "the lights are on". it just gives more meaning to the play. teams get tired of scrimmaging themselves and mentally it's not the same after awhile. in a real game, a great passing play nets yardage that counts toward the stats and that helps the player.

the only thing I object to in your question is calling this team a "glorified high school". these athletes are on a higher level than that; they also are the best at their high schools, just not with the measurable of our guys.

You only get to see LSU play 11 to 15 times a year, they all have meaning.
