I agree with this post. Msu finally has a D.C. And some legit sec horses on D. I'm gonna go on on a limb and say winner of this game will be #2 contender in the west.

What are you even blabbering about? No one says dominating an SEC opponent doesn't matter. Just that beating state decisively isn't some monumental achievement relative to LSU's stature as a program, or at least what its stature should be.

Accept in our last 3 meetings we haven't dominated them.....the scores have been close....so it would be an uptick in recent trends......

I'm only blabbering about your response....keep up.

This game will neither make nor break DaCoachO.

And the notion that those who question the wisdom of the Orgeron hire want him to fail is silly.

I can't recall any other year when MSU was a "prove it" game. You're unwittingly acknowledging that people have lowered their expectations by thinking winning this game is a big deal.

Right. And I've said beating State decisively would be encouraging. We all want the program to improve from where it was the last 3-4 years. Not sure what you want from me, honestly. This isn't a make or break game, though losing to an inferior team like State would be very, very discouraging.

So when Dak showed up ranked in the top 20 it wasn't?

You are unwittingly acting like recent history of their success doesn't exist. They are bringing a really good qb to the table at home, 2-0, with confidence. SEC opener etc etc.

We were in the top 10 and they were unranked for that game. But OK

I'm talking about the way fans treated the games vs MSU. Even a couple of years ago when Dak was there I didn't see anyone say how beating them would be a big deal.

What I do recall is people freaking out because we lost to them. So you can't say that beating them is impressive but losing to them is unacceptable.

I don't believe there are a ton of people who doubt Orgeron can lead LSU to a win this Saturday. Hell, I'm an O detractor and I'm pretty damn confident LSU wins.

Not at all...just playing your game.....State is at home, with a SEC caliber qb, 2-0 in a new season, and the supposed 2nd best coach in the SEC.

This is the perception as of today.

Right. It would be a nice win, but not one that "proves" much of anything other than the fact we are at least as good as we've been the last 4-5 years. We still have better players and are an overall better program. We can and should win.

If I am not mistaken, LSU has beaten MSU in sixteen of the last seventeen meetings between the two programs. This year's iteration of the Tigers is exponentially more talented than MSU. We should beat the Bulldogs handily. Losing the game would be a terrifyingly inauspicious start to O's SEC tenure.

Lowered expectations.

Not necessarily. I think the point is we really don't know how good we are at this point. I'm going to go out on a limb and guess that you have made the statement "we haven't played anybody yet" and you would be correct.

At this time MSU is an unknown. Fitzgerald comes in with a lot of hype. It may or may not be founded. There is also a narrative that Grantham has significantly improved the D and the front 7 is better. They are in the same boat. Neither team has faced a tough opponent.

Hahaha I love how all the negatiger fire Les Miles people are now the we love O for running the same offense. 50 pre-snap adjustments Guice left, 20 pre-snap adjustments Guice right, 25 pre-snap adjustments 50 yard hail mary and hope for the best. The ONLY thing different is all the presnap movement.

I loved Miles and hated how things ended for him but if you really think this then, clearly, either you have not actually watched a game yet or you do not really understand football.

You're half right. Win this game and Mullen's star is shining bright. But if O wins, so what? You beat a long time doormat that is currently ranked as the 30th best team. If O beats everyone else, but loses to Bama, Auburn and Florida, the season sucks.

He has to beat all but two teams in order to have a successful season, and with two losses it isn't highly successful unless he wins his bowl. So, no, this isn't the prove-it game for O...unless he loses.
