This fear by the LSU admins of paying the buyout and how it would appear

Regardless if they actually paid the money or not, the money was raised and was available to pay the buyout.
So if King Alexander was worried how it would look at the capital when he went hat in hand, doesn't that problem still exist if the money was spent or not?
The legislators can still tell him to go frick himself when he goes to the capital to beg for funding. They can just say, "hey, you guys had $15 to $20 million at the ready to fire your coach. So before coming here and asking us for money, go tap into those funds first"

The guy is a grandstanding douche who played politics last year threatening financial exigency. Shouldn't surprise anyone, but TAF and the boosters should be enraged he feels their money is his.

F. king Alexander is a clueless fricktard. He's gonna jump ship right before he has to answer for his decisions and go on to ruin some other school. He's the human equivalent of mono

LSU has no leadership right now.

You aren't wrong, but I still believe the real sticking point was probably how much money Jimbo would be asking for. It would have had to be north of $6 mil, probably closer to $7.
It was probably Jimbo or bust. And they can't really say that publicly so they have to come up with some excuse, even if it's a bad one.

They overthought it.
No one would have given a shite.. people care too much what others may think these days. Do what is best for the hand that feeds you the most!

I don't see the problem with that being the excuse. We tried to get Jimbo he would have cost too much money we didn't see anybody else worthy of us buying out Miles for. Some fans might be upset but i think that is perfectly understandable that it was Jimbo or bust in fact i agree.

Point blank:
The reason Miles and his entire staff was kept was due to one man's perception.
It doesn't matter that private money would have bought the coaches out.
We kept Miles simply because one man thought if we let him go it wouldn't "look good."

And this is why he needs to go. No matter how you look at it, this shows total ineptitude.

I doubt it. it's sad that the president of our university is put in this position although i'm sure this happens a other places also.
one of the things I hate about Louisiana is the low priority put on education. w/o oil and gas, we'd be Mississippi.

correct. Even if people cared, it would've faded quickly, especially if Jimbo showed improvement.
Remember when Saban was hired at Bama, some people freaked out out about his salary. Then he started winning and all those people quieted down.
And then they even started talking about how Saban is worth far more to the university than his salary when you consider the increased donations to the academic side, increased applications for enrollment, etc.
The LSU administration should've done what's right, even if they thought they'd get some short term heat.
Great leaders do what's right. Ours blinked.

This is a severe problem with no easy solution, unless TAF can fire Alex and TAF can then bring in their own man.

AllEva should be fired for granting such a large buyout in the firstplace. He hamstrung the program with that.

Exactly, the way he handled it during the midst of a bond deal was unethical and borderline illegal. He is a scumbag. We need t raise awareness about how terrible he is.

The fact that anyone considers that the Athletic Foundation should have a vote in matters of the Univ is kinda the inmates running the asylum deal

You want the Athletic Foundation to decide who the President of the entire university is? Please tell me I'm just reading too much into your statement.

A
dont think Alleva did that unilaterally. Pretty sure that had to be approved as well. don't hang it on Alleva.
But i agree the deal is horrible.

What I'm curious about is this...
Now I will preface by saying I haven't attended LSU. I joined the military right out of high school but I have always loved the Tigers.
So, if all these boosters were willing to pony up to fire CLM, why won't they pony up to support the academic side of the university?

Cares about how he looks rather than what's best for the program.
