On how to defend spread O's? With the increase of spreads (esp zone reads) in the NFL it seems like their DC's are kinda stumped. Chief seems to have a sound approach.

Chavis is pretty awful versus spread O's.

A&M had 410 yards and 19 points. Oregon had 335 and 27. I guess you can call that sound.

And LSU won both of those games.

Isn't winning what it is all about?

Oh I'm sorry.

It's all about statistics isn't it?

Sorry.

Rant on.

Spread offenses eat Chavis up. Maybe a little more in the past, though. Chavis had no answer for Florida in 2009 or Auburn in 2010.

I'm tired of you fricking up threads with your pro-Miles bullshite. If you took two damn seconds to actually try and comprehend the OP you'd see what the hell I was talking about.

Where did I mention Miles? Maybe you should take two damn seconds to actually read what I actually wrote.

The OP asked a simple question and you quoted some statistics and I pointed out that stats don't matter when you win.

They don't. They really don't. Seriously.

But on to another matter.

Just consider that maybe people are tired of you f^%king up threads.

Ya think?

The Denver Broncos consulted with him on the prevent defense.

On the spot. Chavis can and has beaten the spread as Oregon and TxAM runs it.

Spread OPTION (the version Floria and Auburn 2010 ran), which is really a run type offense, gave Chavis and LSU defense fits.

When you compare those point totals to each teams season average it looks pretty good.

They probably will.. but I don't think Chief will be up for it. One bad season at the NFL and you're canned.

Eh, pretty simplistic take.

Johnny Football had the worst game of his season against us.

Oregon rattled off a lot of yards and points well after that game was out of hand.

In both cases, the LSU defense acquitted themselves well, IMO.

FTFY

Okay, Bama beat Florida, but we held them to the same number of points - the difference was Bama scored 32 points and we scored 3.

Everybody else gave up 3 to 8 touchdowns to Florida in 2009, but go ahead and keep blaming THAT game on the defense.

You want to say the defense let us down in 2012 (at least in the losses), f*ck it, I'm right there with you. They didn't in 2009.

Really? Auburn 2010?

i'm totally ok with chavis vs spread.

he gives up yards but points are usually hard to come by.

oregon scored points in garbage time, when the clock was our ally.

UF in 09? didn't they score like 13 points that game?

despite giving up a million yards to cam, the defense wasn't the problem in that game (they only gave up 24 points, what saban did vs cam that year was much more unforgivable).

he held WVU to 14 and 21 points in consecutive years.

what do you want against the spread 0.0 PPG??!!

i'll listen to any argument against him having defenses that faltered late in games in 2012 (bama especially) but vs the spread he's actually emulated by other DC's.
