Is this a normal thing? Sounds like a union.

That's great. My question is how did this all this crap get put out there in the first place?

I can't substantiate this but I think one loudmouth dude just spouted off about a boycott and an over zealous reporter a heard about it and decided to go for his Pulitzer with a scoop.

Just a guess though.

Sam Spiegelman with SECcountry. He either had a shoddy source or tried to make a clickbait story and stretched the truth.

Regardless, it all falls back on terrible reporting by spiegelman. Even if the story wasn't a complete sham, it appears he released the story with zero investigation. And, even after it was exposed as false/overblown, he still wrote articles saying the boycott was still in consideration

Now lets see how Wildtigercat93 comes to spin this negatively. He was loving it when the first story broke about the boycott.

Hopefully this was just a short term temper tantrum that has been smoothed over.

That's what this whole thing reeked of. I figured it would be solved by Orgeron and Mickey Joseph taking a couple of coaches out to dinner and buttering them up.

Latest from Sam Spiegelman

quote:

NEW ORLEANS — Coaches from multiple New Orleans area high school football gathered on Thursday night for a closed-door meeting. However, the polarizing subject of a potential boycott of the LSU Tigers football program was not discussed, multiple sources that were involved the 2.5-hour meeting disclosed to SEC Country.

The threat of a boycott was brought up earlier in the week amid the demotion of former LSU running backs coach and New Orleans area recruiter Jabbar Juluke. Sources that were involved in the meeting told SEC Country that a boycott would be discussed because the coaches were not pleased with how head coach Ed Orgeron managed the situation.

The issue has since been placed under a statewide and national microscope, with Orgeron and new Tigers wide receivers coach and New Orleans area recruiter Mickey Joseph working feverishly to repair the relationships with said coaches. While a boycott did not receive consideration, the New Orleans high school coaches in attendance discussed collaborating as a collective unit so that if other issues surfaced with LSU, they could take action together. “The boycott was not discussed,” one source in the meeting told SEC Country. “What we can do to better ourselves, better our coaches that are coming up and the kids was. We want to have a voice and be able to do things right. We want to be able to be represented, and that was the whole gist of it.” “It was time to end it now,” another source stated. “That’s what we came up with and to form our own organization.”

Part of the reason for this decision came from former LSU assistant and UTSA head coach Frank Wilson, who advised his friends and former colleagues against the boycott. It’s also interesting to note that Eric Hill, a former LSU player and a board member on the Tiger Athletic Foundation, was in attendance, according to a source. Hill displayed support for the coaches at the meeting. A boycott of the LSU football program — which was described to SEC Country as not openly transporting prospects to camps and recruiting functions during the spring and summer — was definitely on the table earlier this week. Once the tension between the New Orleans area coaches and LSU drew attention, other people involved in the meeting suggested it was merely a threat, but not a realistic option. “We can’t boycott LSU,” a source told SEC Country. “With all of the resources, we need to lean on each other. We just need to collaborate when these situations arise.”

Those situations, of course, refer to that of Juluke, who after his demotion landed back on his feet as the running backs coach and associate head coach at Texas Tech. Moving forward, the New Orleans coaches just want to have better lines of communication to resolve these sorts of issues or others that pop up from time to time, sources said.

an association sounds like a union? i'm assuming you are talking a labor union. i'm not sure what your background or level of education is but your brain is experiencing a major disconnect if you think an association of professionals in the same field is like a labor union. it's a stretch but perhaps the association (if formed) could lobby parish government for better working conditions or something. labor unions exist to improve the lot of their members and are recognized by law as such. associations are not and exist to promote their industry by regulating their members and lobbying government for laws and regulations promoting their industry (or profession).

So, in other words, Spiegelman is just perpetuating his original story. The original story was placed "under a microscope" because of sensationalized, inflmmatory reporting by Spiegelman himself.
Nice job.

You could've gotten the same point across without the dick comment at the beginning, Pops. Don't worry, I'll get off your lawn.
