Ed Reed, Peyton and Eli Manning, Marshall Faulk, Reggie Wayne, Warrick Dunn, Kordell Stewart. Did we lose more top in state recruits then and it changed when Saban got here? Did coaching just suck? What changed?

Shitty coaching and poor recruiting.

Gerry DiNardo keeping Kevin Faulk at home in Louisiana made it okay and “cool” for Louisiana kids to go to LSU, and then five years later Saban picked up the pieces of what DiNardo almost put together and built a powerhouse.

Didn't invest into the program. Led to poor coaches and poor facilities. Kids left the state.

The Football coach couldn’t make more than the Governor… changed under DiNardo or Saban.

Les Miles lost control of Louisiana and nothing was the same.

Anyway, Omaha.

Curley Hallman. Only 3 years of head coaching experience total, all at Southern Miss. Had a good record there, so Joe Dean thought Hallman was a great coach, instead of realizing he was just riding Brett Favre’s coattails.

Hallman did not endear himself to recruits either. And not just the “no earring” policy.

The theory for why it changed resides in Tuscaloosa now.
