Was because there is apparently a rule that you can’t flip the bat above your head.

Idk who’s rule this is… SEC or NCAA but this is getting ridiculous.

This information comes from Jay on Mahtook’s podcast. He said the reason he called timeout was to make sure Dylan didn’t do it in the very next AB.

Must be another one of those rules “unanimously voted for” by the coaches.

Seems like a rule they would know about. So, you can throw it sidearm to right field as long as it don't get over your head..

If I remember correctly it didn’t go over his head. He kinda pushed it towards our dugout.

I think the way the umpire handled the situation was appropriate. He did not make a big scene, just talked to him like an adult.

he even patted Tre on the chest when he was done, which is classy.

I think it gets missed a lot that these are young players still and this was a big series and a huge at bat for him.

I’m sort of a baseball purist when it comes to a lot of things about the game, but FFS. What are we trying to accomplish with these rules?

Agreed - I thought the umpire talked to him like an adult and didn’t make a big issue about it

I'd like to see Tre' very carefully and slowly place the bat on the grass next time he homers, in mockery of that warning.

He should have been professional It was the umpires fault Morgan hit the home run. He called a strike on ball 4 the pitch before.

Like a bowling ball straight back to the pitcher.

They should practice the bat plant like Hawpe used in the 2000 CWS.

Ejected

Apparently this kid was ejected and suspended for the Sunday game. If so, completely ridiculous.

Exactly. This is what pissed me off. The ump should have kept his mouth shut after that horrendous ball four miss call.
