The secondary doesn't matter as much..

If we have an elite defensive line. All the great defenses all had legitimate defensive lines. 03 we had 3 eventual NFL guys,06 we had 2,07 we had 2 NFL guys, and in 11 we had 3. I know we need a good back field, but it doesn't have to be great if the guys up front are great.

Harold Perkins on one of those great lsu defensive teams would of been fun to watch.

You might want to go back and double check our secondary rosters in those particular years before saying the secondary wasn't great in those years.

I'm not saying they weren't great. Go look at other teams that had historic defenses, and you will see that the secondary wasn't amazing.

A good secondary = more sacks = good defense

A great defensive line = more mistakes made from pressure = more turnovers = more players in coverage. WRs will eventually get open if there isn't pressure.

The secondary is paramount in this game.

Just like it remains to be seen that our secondary isn't great. Saban built his lines before he built anything else. The greatest coaches in history built their lines before anything else.
