I know how much of a homer this is going to come across as but I truly believe that the roar of the LSU crowd, for any sport, is the greatest & most passionate of any in the country.
From football, to softball, to tennis, to gymnastics, to alumni/watch parties at sports bars across the country; there's just something about us that really is on a higher level.

If you were to listen to just the roar of the crowd from an LSU game and say an auburn game, with no context, then I absolutely guarantee that you couldn't tell the difference.

Get out of here with this stupid shite

I do find it interesting how for tiger stadium, the pmac, and the box... National sports writers make it a point to let their readers know how loud and intense the LSU crowd was.

It's especially interesting for the PMAC. Any time LSU basketball has a huge game and the pmac is packed (liked Oklahoma or Kentucky when they were undefeated) writers will say how absolutely nuts the crowd was. And you don't usually read stuff like that for most games around the country.

It must be a combo of how tiger stadium and the pmac and designed which funnels the noise and LSU fans being crazy drunk coonasses.

Sorry, I disagree. I've traveled all over to sports at various colleges, high schools, & pro sports. I've been to a world series & a Superbowl.
There's definitely something on a different level.

MAYBE it's my own passion for all things LSU coloring my judgement. But so many sports writers & tv game announcers have heralded LSU crowd noise/fanaticism for decades. It's not like I'm alone here.

Eh, I've experienced certain nights at Tiger Stadium, the Box and the PMAC where the crowd had a certain menace about it.

Scott Van Pelt's commentary after the 2012 Bama game illustrates that something is noticeably different about our crowd when the stage is big.

You can say that we have the best atmosphere and ill agree. However to say that you can tell the difference between spontaneous celebratory crowd eruptions of different schools is ridiculous.

You cant. No one else can either

I'll concede that without context, you/we/I can't tell the difference. However, I will stand by saying that with context, because how else can you observe live or televised sports, LSU crowd passion/atmosphere/roar is the best.

How is it stupid? What he said is actually right on point. LSU fans and tiger stadium are reknowned for being some of the loudest and most rowdy crowds in all of sports...not just college. It's a pretty widely shared opinion by non biased observers.

Exactly. There are a lot of loud stadiums and arenas around the country. But the fact that we've had a national reputation for decades should mean something is recognizably different, right?

Haha, hell yeah it should. I dont see how anyone can say the op or his opinion is stupid when so many people who have been to big time games in so many venues can say LSU stands out to them without any bias or a underlying love for LSU to begin with. Our fans are second to none.

it isn't the roar for me, but rather, it's the buzzing between pitches that i could notice through the tv on a night like Saturday night in the first few innings... or between plays in the Alabama football game for example

This is #1 for me honestly....

1/9/12 was a travesty, albeit, but there was so much juice in the stadium for this game in Tiger Stadium, I knew there was no way wouldn't win it.

Esp after Landry's TD catch.

But before that after J.C. Copeland's catch and run at the end of the 3rd

I agree, that's part of it.

I took a born-and-bred Chicago girl to the WVU football game in 2010. That wasn't even a particularly loud game for the most part, but she commented how the noise was "sustained".

This chick has been going to Soldier Field most of her life and she recognized it wasn't the same.

growing up in the Southdowns area of Baton Rouge we could hear the roar coming from Tiger Stadium. it has always left an impression on me. LSU fans are the best.

So lets override and lessen the effect of that legendary Tiger Stadium noise, by pumping in obnoxious, annoying and irritating recorded musical garbage.

Not needed or wanted in TS.

It's an insult to the LSU fan base's loud vocalizations.
