Has it ever been explained why such a great bowl ignores west division teams? I would think it would want a good mix every few years...don't get it at all....the last team if i remember correctly from the west was 1996 bama. i think this is silly and basically this bowl is not a true "SEC" bowl if it only takes east teams. that gets boring after about 3 years. this needs to change.

the capital one gets first pick after the BCS. then outback then selects the best remaining from the east while the cotton selects the best remaining from the west. the chick-fil-a then gets next pick followed by the liberty and papajohns. can't remember the other tie-ins off the top of my head but they mix in there under the chick-fil-a bowl

i think its official but i'm confused because all the bowl projections have the outback bowl actually picking a west team this year. i think it's because these bowls have strict win requirements like the cap one goes for 10 win teams unless there are none so since neither tenn or uga will finish with more wins than ole miss or lsu i think they're lookin at east teams. not positive on this however

The Outback Bowl gets first pick of a team from the East, just like the Cotton Bowl gets first pick of a team from the West. But they don't have to take one.

makes sense so that means the outback would be taking the fourth best from the west over the second best from the east. wow. major power shift from like three or four years ago

I'm not sure bowl projections take division affiliations into account. They only look at conference affiliations and assume that they would pick the best in the conference.

I want LSU in Atlanta and BCSNC - that didn't happen - so if they are going to drop one of the next 2 games and end up in my back yard where I can go see them play...I won't be crying

LSU played Syracuse in their bowl in 1989 and had a very poor showing attendance-wise.

Since then, Auburn and Bama have been the only west teams on their radar.

LSU/Ark/MSU/Miss will never get an Outback invite
They would take a 6-6 USCe or UK over any West team not from Alabama.

Book it!
