If I recall correctly, when Trent got 'canned' ( I think the story was he left on his own), toward the end of the season no one was showing up for the games.

If people would just boycott the games, maybe even Alleva could see it. I know Ray Charles could.

I stopped going to games when they started off poorly, but I kept watching on TV.

Last night, I didn't even tune in once.

Alleva's theory is if people aren't going to show up for the games why put the effort in to have a winning program. He thinks he shouldn't hire a new coach until the fans start showing up.

That's the bankrupt mentality of our AD. Alleva should be fired in general.

Seats haven't been consistently filled since the early 90s. Whether it was Dale, Brady, Trent, and what we have now.

I'm afraid that it would take someone like Dale Brown, a salesmen to get people excited about basketball again and a good product. Dale had had a great run of about ten years in a row of making the tournament and it's been spotty even since.

When Dale was there basketball got attention and resources with football getting even bigger I'm afraid men's basketball has become an afterthought like mens hoops at Alabama and Auburn.

SEC basketball has a gap that LSU can fill.

Hold on
Check this out!
You can get Temple's autograph.
You can get ALL IN tshirts.
You can't make this up.
Since it's Bama, why not show the national title game.

If Trent got "canned", then Alleva should have been right out the door with him. Now Trent defintiely left because he saw the writing on the wall, but the fact that Alleva delayed the inevitable is part of the reason Jones is the coach now.

If Trent was "encouraged to leave", then why did Alleva wait until Trent left in early April to start the coaching search? Everyone else who fired their coach that year did so 3-4 weeks before LSU.

No, savvy Joe decided to allow Trent to leave late in the game so as to put LSU behind the 8-ball in its search for a replacement. By that time it was early April. Most of the new hires had already been made and the spring signing day was approaching, which probably made some coaches hesitant about leaving their present job. If it was inevitable that a change was going to have to be made, why wait to do it? I guess Joe thought is was necessary to give Trent time to unnecessarily waste the subsequent season before he made the needed change that was apparent to everyone but him.

Sadly, Joe's first coaching change was not the last instance where he would be a day late and a dollar short.

Waited to long to get rid of Trent, thus basicially leaving him with Jones as the only option late in the game

Wasted the 2016 football season by keeping Miles after essentially letting everyone know he wanted to fire him in 2015.

Retained Jones after he fell flat on his face in a season that was built to be "the year." Now we are left watching 30 point blowouts and complete apathy.

Apparently the only thing Joe has acted swiftly on in his AD career was firing the Duke Lacrosse coach and canceling the season before any real facts came out about the BS criminal charges.

There were empty seats at the beginning of last year when there was so much hype. The problem is our fans and they demand a winning program year in and year out when they don't give two shites about the program in general

the real scary thing about this utterly stupid and idiotic post is that you believe it. America is in a new dimension. the truth is not relevant anymore.

Don't think you have to worry about that. However, I would say if you were planning on going anyway you might as well still go and support the kids. It's not their fault Johnny is lost at sea.

I gave up my three tickets, just finally realized I had other things I wanted to spend time doing.

I endured Curly for football, never leaving a game early, but just lost my passion for LSU basketball. Hope for the player's sake we can right the ship.

LSU hoops was so much fun when I went there in the mod 80's

It's such a shame that we've allowed the program to decline this far.

It all comes down to the mighty dollar.
