The Oline is they key to the season, not Harris.

Yes, Harris needs to play better, but he was fine until the Oline got absolutely manhandled against Bama and Ark. No QB would have won games in this offense where you're getting less than 2 ypc.

He'll be better with a year under his belt and being bigger/stronger etc, but he doesn't have to make some great leap.

Against big physical front 7s, the Oline is the unit that has to make a big leap. I don't know if this is a championship Oline. Time will tell.

The two youngest positions groups on the team (by age, not class or experience) are guard and tackle. That leaves a lot of room for doubt in my mind about them. When the problems last year were us getting manhandled, I don't know how being younger, even if similarly skilled, is going to help anything.

You shouldn't be. LSU has multiple linemen capable of playing LT

this is absolutely correct...the oline was a diaster at time. just inconsistent, like a lot of positions last year.

But exactly 0 that have any real experience there.

The QB is the key to the season for every team that plays football at any level. I do see your point though that the O line can help increase Harris' chances of being successful.

Well when defenses can just rush and not worry about a serious pass threat, it'll make an O-Line look bad. Harris is the keystone to the offense. He has to make passes to get the defense to stay true.

Oline is as talented as ever, but as others have pointed out, the real issue is lack of experience. Hopefully they have enough when the meat of the schedule comes around. I really do believe that solid Oline play WILL lead to solid play by Harris.

i say partially true. the oline for sure. play calling on offense is the other vital aspect that has to come through.

we can have the best oline around but if we run run run run we will still likely hit a wall against bama and/or 1 or 2 others

Run blocking won't be an issue, but pass blocking hasn't been existent at LSU since AT LEAST Mett... And it wasn't all that great that year either, Mett just had the ability to get rid of the ball quickly to two of the best receivers our school has ever seen.

I agree with this. Execution from the O line will be key but they also need to help them out a little with the offensive scheme. Otherwise, you're just asking them to do too much in certain situations.

If 7 drop back no one is getting open. Oline must handle front 4 and force extra defenders to bring pressure. The Oline play is crucial for our success throwing.
