11 South Alabama (kind of high, eh?)

They have an RPI of 14, 15-6 conference record, won 7 in a row, 10-10 vs RPI top 100, 16-2 vs RPI 100-200, took 2 of 3 from a good north florida club, took a game from Southern Miss, swept a decent Western Kentucky, and just swept ULM
quote:

18 UNC Wilmington (one midweek win doesn't overly impress me)
Dominating their conference, playing the tough north carolina teams, and beating all except NC st., 12-7 vs RPI top 100, 12-4 vs RPI 100-200
quote:

23 Miami (couldn't even beat Stony Brook at home, ha)

Honestly this was hard to pick. 23-28 could all be flipped around. The RPI of 18 and 4th SOS was hard to ignore, even though it sounds silly they did get a game from North Carolina, 2 from a good Va tech squad, and just recently took 2 from a good Clemson squad. I know they got embarassed by B.C. who is awful, but not gonna penalize them that much for one bad weekend.
quote:

24 Austin Peay (what makes them top 25 worthy?)

RPI of 28, took 2 of 3 from a good Mich St. team, and beat a good Belmont team 2 out of 3, I can understand anyone's beef with them though. Not spectacular, but I had them around that 24-28 range...just wanted to show them some love.
quote:

25 Kansas State (Outlasting teams in the snow won't help them in June)

This isn't about projecting where teams will finish, for me its awarding teams based on what they've done to this point. 16-11 vs RPI top 100, not bad.

I'm thinking next year (or maybe even the remainder of this year), we should leave off the "others receiving votes" section. I'll still monitor the votes of course, but this way we have a top 25 and it is done. We could also include a "5 teams to watch" or something of that nature for 26-30. I think that might help the legitimacy of the poll rather than looking at the bottom and seeing a 1 off vote. This would put more focus on the actual top 25 that the group average provides.

Thoughts from the voters?

I disagree with a couple of spots, but nonetheless, I knew you had solid reasoning for your selections.

Whatever you wanna do. You and Dro do a great job. Just a warning though if LSU loses another series there will be like 5 people voting lol.

I like seeing it, but I'm not opposed to it going away either. I just like to see who everyone is thinking and shows a progression or regression for certain teams.
