The number of times the D lost containment on the edge was very disappointing.

That's the last place I thought there would be a breakdown on defense. I lost track of how many times the D lost containment.

The MSU offense wasn't doing anything special either. They would simply run at the 4 and 5 holes, suck the OLBs and safeties in and bounce it outside for a 7 or 8 yard rip.

I've never seen an LSU defense make these kind of fundemental mistakes in a very long time. It's almost like containment is so basic the coaches took it for granted and coach the players past these fundementals. They had terrible leverage on the edge.

Yeah, I remember him getting sucked in at least twice.

You can't do that.

Its not like containment is some complicated concept.

It wasn't even the Freshmen though. Donnie Alexander got beat to the edge the entire first half, he was terrible.

That was one of the most disappointing parts of the game. I remember wondering whether Aranda was somehow keeping the LBs in tight to help protect the DL, and never remember seeing an LSU defense beat to the perimeter like this... Puzzling.

Aranda is most to blame but the rant will blame O and Etling.

It was frustrating as hell to witness this. Especially #2, a 3rd year player for God's sake!

Both sides of the ball we lost the edge.
No push and getting pushed.

Anyone that has played football realizes you can't win games when you lose that part of the field.
Trenches.

It was obvious early Saturday night it was going to be a long evening.

And his replacement Taylor got the bizness the next play.

yep, Mullen went straight for him.

Came back a couple times too.

ETA: I get so frigging pissed I can't see straight when a S or CB goes out we don't test the replacement on the next play. It's so basic, so logical, so effective... but nope, we don't do it.
