I think this hire, coupled with decent QB play, can win us a National Championship next year where we wouldn't have had a snowball's chance in hell with the ol' Chavis prevent, etc

Like when the defense lost the game late against Ole Miss and Florida this year?
well to be fair we tried our hardest to lose those games.

And the offense kept the Bama offense off the field. We damn near doubled them up in TOP. One tackle in bounds and we win that game. We constantly went to 15yd cushions late in games.

Chavis kept Saban's offense to 20 points in that game. Alabama has been scoring 37ppg and only two other teams let Alabama score fewer points, Ole Miss and Arkansas.

So you wanna talk about Chavis's performances vs. Alabama?

Since Chavis has been at LSU in 2009, LSU has allowed Alabama:
2009: 2nd fewest points (24)
2010: 1st in fewest points (21, tied with South Carolina)
2011: 1st in fewest points twice (6 and 21 were both the fewest points Alabama scored all season)
2012: 1st in fewest points (21)
2013: 7th in fewest points (38)
2014: 3rd in fewest points (20)

Consistently limiting our biggest foe to the bottom in offensive production in huge games? That's John Chavis.

Heres what I also know. Both Saban and AJ said after the 2012 game they knew exactly what we would do defensively with less than 2 minutes. Not coincidentally we gave up 2 touchdowns one before the end of the first half one before the end of the second to lose the game.

We put up over 400 yards of offense 300 yards passing and had the ball for 40 minutes. Is it too much to ask to go one half without a 2 minute drill? Not even both just one half without giving up a touchdown in that game and we go to the National championship game. Instead we go to the peach bowl and give up a 4th an 20 and another 2 minute drive down our throats to lose the game.

I truly feel that Chavis and his clique of coaches have been a cancer on the
staff this year.

Well, if they were the cancer, our offensive coaches certainly weren't the cure.

Chavis left for the money. I see him coaching a couple more years then retiring. All in all he did his job. We now have a chance for a great hire. Sturing the pot can help the entire program, just like a good gumbo.
