The likely scenario...

I was at a Christmas party in Houston 2 weeks ago and was told by an aTm booster that they were talking to Chavis about their DC position. I laughed and asked WTF he even thought that Chavis would entertain such a ridiculous move. He agreed that it's a step down but continued with the angle that Chavis was talking to aTm because Miles would leave for Mich if offered. I'm starting to believe that to be true and some of this story has been told by Vegas in other threads. Part of what he says is accurate. Those closest to Miles knew his intentions and through that process Chavis' feelings were hurt as he was clearly priority #3 behind Miles and Cam.
What's a complete fricking joke is the thought that Miles would even dream that we would allow that mother fricker to push Cam on us if he were to leave for UM. That arrogant MFer. You people that keep wanting to believe that Miles is loyal to LSU are fricking retarded. HE WAS NEVER OFFERED THE MICHIGAN JOB and therefore has never chosen LSU over Michigan. He sat back quietly while UM pursued the candidate they wanted and only made a public statement (I'm not leaving LSU) WELL after he knew that deal was done. Keep in mind that Miles knew that JH was headed to UM well before we did. The same inside sources that were telling him every move that was being made at UM were also the few guys that were trying to keep him in play for the job. Miles was dumb enough to believe that he and JH were an either/or scenario. The truth is that he wasn't even the back-up candidate.
Here is the kicker...I was just told (last night), by a former player, that Miles waited for a week to make a public announcement even though he knew he wasn't going to UM. Don't ask me who that player is because I can't say. He's become a very popular person around La over the past ~20 years and I have no doubt that he has real connections within LSU. He told me that Miles interest in UM is what started this whole fricking mess. Chavis realized that Miles was way more loyal to Cam and he responded. Miles ultimately caused Chavis to question where he stood with LSU.
Based on everything I've heard and the timeline of events, I'm quite sure that you can blame Mile's oversized ego for this entire fricking mess. Did anything you saw yesterday make you think that Miles & Chavis were 100% focussed on the game with ND? Also, is anyone starting to get the feeling that Cam was hired more because he IS one of Les' best friends than for his offensive genius? I'm really starting to think that he's collecting a nice check for very little stress. I've wondered why Cam would allow his reputation to be damaged by a (heavily) Miles influenced offense. I'm thinking that they are that close as friends and it's as easy a 1.3m job that he would ever find. Does our AD not also question why we are paying 1.3m to a proven NFL OC...relative to the return on that investment.

I read it. So if Miles had come out immediately and said "No, I'm not going to be the coach at Michigan," Chief would've been okay?

Chavis has been paid well; he should have acted better and prepared the players better. It's disgraceful that he let things hang out there the way he did. He should have turned down the offer or not coached yesterday. None of that loyalty crap matters bc everyone's loyalty is for sell. It's just a matter of a number.

There was a thread on the Lair about this a week ago. Basically the same info except that there was a claim that Chavis was told that Cam would take over if Les split for Michigan and Chavis was pissed about it.

Ok so if offered miles was prepared to go to Michigan
He wasn't offered and he knew that he wouldn't be offered
Chief got pissed at les because les and cam are friends
Cam is getting 1.3 million but he's not really OC, he's just collecting a check cause he's friends with les
And that pissed chief off and he went to the faggies
Sounds reasonable.

I really don't care if you guys believe me or not. If Chavis does leave it could have been avoided and Miles had an opportunity to get his house in order a few weeks ago. If he didn't see what's coming he's dumber than I thought. It pains me to write this but some of you people are so fricking blind. Do you not find it interesting that Miles can tell the Jr's about commitment and opportunity while not being 100% committed himself? The first important decision looks to have been made. Shame because I personally think he was the key...
Get ready...

The fact that Miles was never offered makes all of that shite irrelevant but no matter what chief sounds like a dickhead
