Does anyone think we are 2nd in Yards per Catch, because we cannot complete a short pass? duh. Now go look where LSU ranks in total passing yards a game.

The whole reason for the decline of the Crowton offense was too many formations, which ends up being too confusing. 20 formations = 40 plays

You're seeing the results of THAT offense. Now it's 5 formations = 40 plays

Not saying it's right either way, but I think those years of straight up CONFUSION are the reason you see such a simplistic and 'boring looking' offense nowadays...

It's the classic Over compensation.

Imagine if we would have had a defense last year. We would have been the best football team in college football last year.

The folks with blinders on blasted me two weeks ago when I said I'd like to see us complete a few 3rd and 6 passes.

I said it walking out of the Sam Houston St. game. We obviously could throw it deep, why not work on some intermediate plays.

I didn't cherry pick anything. Your comment was directly related to a poster saying we had 2 1000 yard receivers, a 1000 yard rusher, and a 3000 yard passer. Somehow, you have surmised that we had bad offensive coaching. You picked the year to blast, not me.

I had basic data and the trend was obvious. The outcome was obvious too

no. the outcome was pretty damn good last year. and that's not an opinion, it's a FACT. there is no mathematical equations that predetermines success or failure of a play. another FACT. running the ball on first down, let's say 75% of the time, is not predicted to be a failure. the success of that play is much more dependent on other things, like frickING BLOCKING.

the number of TE in the game, the number of RB's in the backfield, etc, etc is pretty much bull shite and doesn't matter one wup.

Especially not after it is defended on 3 different follow up posts.

Shouldn't really count 2013 as a typical "Les Miles Offense".

sometimes...mett didn't exactly get prepared in 2011 when we blew out most teams we played so 2012 was his learning year...he could have had 2 great years

not for all teams...i guess lsu is the only one who gets so many shitty ones...wonder why that is

I believe LSU's offense under Miles ranked 9th in 2006 other than that. Average out the last 10 years and it averages out to like 49th in the 10 years miles has coached.

The offensive game has changed in college football as well.

Not saying the I has no place in our offense, but we really need to be running more than 6 plays out of it.

No reason for this offense not to have a counter trey, a waggle, etc out of it.

I mean for crying out loud I can think of only these plays we run out of the I:

Fullback trap
Inside toss
Off tackle
Iso
Play action bomb
Outside toss (I've seen us do this maybe twice)

Can anybody name anything else?

Just don't understand why LSU cannot get decent QB recruits...

It's the scheme man.

Look at the statistics:

Something like 70% of QB recruits come from a spread offense.

75-80% of college teams run some form of offense with spread principles.

LSU is not one of them. (reputation wise)

Plus, most good HS QB's would rather go to Baylor or some place like that where they can sling it 60 times a game.

Square peg...round hole
