The lack of quick passes and a screen game is puzzling.

Nothing gets a young QB settled in more than high % passes and little dump offs that moves the chains. Our OL is fairly athletic so getting out in space isn't an issue for them. I don't get it. It's not just because of Harris because we didn't really run any of that with Mett and 2 NFL WRs and an NFL RB.

Actually it is Harris. He'll learn eventually how to throw those intermediate routes.

Fans get it.
Nick Saban gets it.
Lane Kiffin gets it.
Brian Kelly gets it.
Les Miles, doesn't get it.

He does get it. But, he has a QB who can't do it consistently. That is why Cam wants Franks so bad and he and Miles handcuffs Harris with the play calling. But something has to give. Sometimes you just have to trust the QB to make a play.

What makes you think that things will be any different if we get Franks?

Rumor is that he's going to Florida anyway, so it's a moot point.

Rumor that is, nothing confirmed. Point not moot and Feb is not here yet. The hope being Franks is more suited to make those passes early and often compared to BH.

Have you seen the screens we've tried to run this year? They've been pretty bad. I am surprised we don't throw more bubble screens to the WRs.

I'm curious, what have you seen to make you believe that Miles gets it?

As far as throwing intermediate/deep routes, he is "handcuffed" relative to Mettenberger.
But as far as quick passes and screens, that's just something Les doesn't have in the gameplan no matter who is under center.

He would if he trusted his QB more. We did it under Crowton. But we had other issues under Crowton that was much worse.

This. Just as next year is always the year, the next QB phenom is always the answer apparently.

I think we don't do it much because we can't do it well in practice.

Bubbles, tunnels, rubs, wheels, etc. All shite any football player we sign should be able to execute.

90% of the time we either run into a 9 man front or throw the bomb.

That's really disheartening if your QB can't make he easiest throws maybe we need to get an actual QB coach. I mean damn why have a pt coach that seems to coach them down.

It's the foundation of Cameron's "Air Coryell" vertical offense. It's run the ball and throw it deep with vertical seam route concepts in the pass game.

Screens are only effective if lbs are blitzing. Bama wasnt sending extra guys last night. A screen would've probably ended in a pick 6. We tried quick passes last night but Harris couldn't connect.
