I like TM7.... Obama, not so much.

I think his point was valid. Let me spell it out for you. There are a lot of racist people in the south still even to this day.

BLOGGERS.

Sadly this will become the news in the near future. The Times pic going 3 days a week was a huge sign of these changes. Coupled with peoples constant cell phone usage will create more short sided journalism. Skip Bayless and Steven A Smith are replacing the Bob Ryans and Dick Schapps of the world. I only use sites like ESPN for box scores and stat info. The internet killed actual sports jounalism too.

I like him bc he plays for LSU. If he was the exact same player on and off the field but played for any other SEC school, I wouldn't care about him much, other than pull against him.

I would imagine most LSU fans fell the same. Geaux Tigers, the hell with the rest.

The constitution got shitted on before Obama was even thought of homie. Ever heard of the Patriot Act? Im not saying Obama is a good or bad president. I hate politics and stay away from them. They are ALL puppets who have a hand up their arse by the highest bidder. Its like cheering for The Rock vs Stone Cold Steve Austin...

Yeah. Sports journalism has really taken a hit with the downturn of newspapers.

But it goes further than that. The journalists I talk to regarding stories about my research are now covering multiple topics for the newspapers and are no longer focused on the budget, or education, or the environment and what not. They are expected to cover a wide range of topics whereas int he past there was a reporter for all these different areas.

Agreed.

What I don't agree with is singling out the south as racist.

I can point out more neighborhoods on Long Island that are more segregated than in other large southern cities.

True, the South contains racists....on both sides, but so does the entire USA.

Crewe is offering a perspective that most won't say. If Mathieu was playing for Miami, you'd be all over his arse, instead of saying that 92000 Cane fans adore him.

I know the blogger personally...definitely not racist, definitely not conservative. Very knowledgable about the game.

What LSU fan has ever defended Collins or Perrilloux???

I wasn't saying the blogger was racist, but rather commenting on another posters mention of demographic factors that may be stacked against TM7.

Tell your buddy that Jason Whitlock he is not. Tell him he can take that whichever way he sees fit.

Your missing my point. Of course racism exist outside the south. I m saying that if you would be honest to say that a good majority of LSU's fans feel like this guy .

The only thing i was trying to say that if Tyran Mathieu worked at Albertsons , it would be different. I mainly was saying how much of an anomaly that hundreds of thousands of people could cheer for a dude they are the exact opposite of.

How many Thugs have you seen at a Garth Brooks show? Wont happen. Tyrans situation is the opposite of that. Thats all I was saying. Politics aside, its merely a social observation

I guess the guys personality just gets to some people. Their problem, not mine, I love the guy. Great player, blast to watch, and gives my team a great chance to win.

I have no problem with what TM7 does on and off the field. He went through a lot to get where he is.

Only thing I wish was someone told him how to market himself. Imagine the marketability if he cleaned up his off the field acts. Talk trash on and and off the field but keep more of a clean cut image. After he declared the companies would be all over him for advertisement. No doubt he will still get advertisements but his potential for making money could even be greater.

PP7 was a pretty chill when it came to publicity and I am not aware of a ton of endorsements that he has signed beyond a shoe deal.

For the most part if you aren't raping bitches or killing dogs, endorsements will come.
