My father passed away on Wednesday this week. He is the reason I am such a die hard LSU fan. The earliest LSU memory I have is watching LSU win the CWS in 2000 and my dad jumping up and down screaming from excitement.

Also, my dad was always a Kim Mulkey fan (whom he always called Kim Mulkey-Robertson, even to this day after her divorce). He watched her play in high school and at Louisiana Tech and was a huge fan of hers. He loved LSU women’s basketball (behind only football and baseball) and would always say “can you believe that LSU didn’t get Kim Mulkey-Robertson before she went to Baylor?”

One of the last things I was able to tell him was that LSU finally did get his favorite coach, and I still remember his smile after I told him that news. I know he is going to be watching this next year’s team from heaven.

Lost my dad in 06. LSU baseball and football, but mostly baseball will always be our bond for as long as I’m alive. When I’m watching I always feel like he is with me. I hope you get the same pleasure. Sorry for your loss.

I’m going to feel the same way when my dad passes. He is the reason why I’m such a die hard fan. I am thankful as shite that I grew up that way. GEAUX Tigers and sorry for the loss.

Sorry for your loss. Just hold on to those awesome memories. Most of us here have that special person that is no longer here who made us a tygah fan; for me it was my grandfather. Just keep remembering the good times and know that your dad will still be sitting with you every time you watch the tygahs play.

(look, my 1,000th post. When I hit 999 I told myself I would save my 1,000 post for something special. I didn't hesitate when I read your message)

I'm very sorry to hear about this.

I lost my dad a couple years ago, similar to you, he and I followed LSU all the time. Went to all the Natty games, went to the game in Arlington when we played Oregon, etc.

Lost him very suddenly and I still am not over it. I don't know if I'll ever be. I miss him every day.

Your dad is with my dad watching the Tigers, I promise you that.

Prayers and support to you and your family in this difficult time.

Keep the faith. Your dad will always be with you.

Condolences and may God grant peace to his soul and your family.

So many of us has that childhood adult who taught us to love and cheer for Dear Ole LSU. I attended undergraduate and graduate school and earned two degrees, for my career and love of LSU Athletics.

May your dad Rest In Peace

Very sorry for your loss. The bonds made over LSU sports is one that many never really “get” unless they experience it for themselves. The very best thing you can do is honor his legacy by being the kind of fan he was and passing on his love for the Tigers.
