I really enjoyed this season. Wish it would have finished just a little differently, but it is what it is. Had tons of highs and lows, but it was certainly a fun ride.

Next years team will certainly not have the high expectations of this years, but on paper they still have a chance to be pretty damn good.

C- Coomes / Woley
1B - Woley/Comes/Br Jordan
2B - Slaughter
3B - Reid
SS - Smith
LF - Duplantis
CF - Watson
RF - Breaux/Be Jordan
DH - Coomes/Woley/Be Jordan/Br Jordan

P - Walker :fingers crossed:
Bain
Beck
Bush
Reese
Hess
Gilbert
Peterson

That is a solid core. Now enter the freshman who will be coming in and trying to take spots from those players, and LSU still has a pretty damn good team. We know that 2-3 freshman usually step up big for us every year, whether it be pitching or on the field.

We need a freshman pitcher to come in and be a stud for one of the weekend rotation spots. Surely Paul has one or two lined up?

Cabrera will be your starter in RF. Storz will be a guy who makes an impact from day one, either in the field or as a pitcher. Have a few different catchers coming in if I'm not mistaken.

We don't know the extent of the Walker injury.

We don't know if Gilbert can give you good stuff as a starter for an entire season.

We don't know if Hess will be electric as a starter.

If those three work out though, then that's probably the three starters. Then we already has a few guys on the roster who can hopefully do a lot of growing up between their freshman and sophomore seasons and contend for spots. That's not even counting the freshman coming in. I think our pitching will be ok.

Hess was electric as a starter this season. He was also electric as a reliever.

His struggles came when he was being asked to do both. When allowed to focus on one role over the other, he excelled in both roles.

I think Hess is going to be our Friday night guy.

I wouldn't say his stuff was electric as a starter though. He had some great outings, and some not so great outings. We will not really know for certain what we get from him until he's starting for more than 3 innings in a midweek game.

Amazing how many freshman phenoms we had this year. If we have a few more come in next season then we'll have an elite lineup from top to bottom.

We usually have at least 2-3 that step up. It's not like LSU is having to settle for bad baseball players. Look at the roster, and you can see that people from all over the country want to come play here.
