The expectations for Ben were set too high.

The media hyped him up to be so great and he just isn't. All of our fans are brainwashed because every single game we play all the announcers talk about it Simmons, Simmons, and some more Simmons. If ESPN had never mentioned Ben's name before he came here, nobody would say he is by far the best player in the nation. If he was truly a one in a million talent, we wouldn't have other LSU fans saying that he is overrated. I just don't see how anyone can compare him to LeBron right now, but of course people will believe whatever the media says. I am still 100% a fan of him and this team. geaux tigers

I agree, the expectations are way too high for a guy who can't shoot outside 10 feet

He is but our fans are too stupid to understand what greatness is.

Maybe people think he is great because he averages 20-13-5 as a freshman.

Every time we're on ESPN the announcers say #1 pick at least 30 times.

You're right about the expectations being too high, but that is because casual fans are clueless. When people hear he is the next LeBron James, people tune in expecting to see 2015-2016 LeBron James. Anyone with half a brain regarding basketball talent can see exactly what is so special about Simmons, but most people on this board watch 7-10 games a year - all LSU games - and think they are basketball experts on the rant.

Dude is good but not nearly as good as he is hyped up to be ,every time Lsu plays the announcers do a Ben Simmons documentary they rarely mention anything else about the team

Exhibit A as to the people who don't understand the different facets required to play in the NBA.

Having a proficient jumps shot is one of many, many tools a player can have. Simmons doesn't have it, but he has damn near every other tool imaginable, therefore he sucks.

No, he is living up to expectations of those who understand basketball.

It is the team and coaching that is not living up to expectations.

For good reason - have you seen the rest of these guys play as a team this year?

You literally repeat what you hear from the media, it's obvious.

He's a 6'10 point guard. He doesn't have a jumper. He doesn't shoot 3s at all. He's reckless when he drives. He doesn't really have any moves off the dribble and he doesn't try to post. He don't even try to be a force in the paint on defense. What am I missing?

He is an incredible rebounder and can obviously handle the ball. As far as scoring goes though, most of his damage is off of feeds when he's down low. Although he scores off the dribble some, you rarely see him beat a good defender with the ball. He seldom makes anyone look stupid like you would expect a great player to.

Lebron at this point was averaging 20pts per in the NBA. Benny ain't there just yet.

Expectations were set no higher for Ben than they were for Leonard Fournette. Only difference is LF7 dominates his opponents.

Lebron scored 25 points in his first NBA game against an NBA defense. I don't see how he compares to Lebron

Simmons beats people off the dribble all the time and consistently gets to the line. Has everyone on this board only watched this one game? Where was all this nonsense after the Vandy game?
