TAMU defended Bennie well and all the good teams will do the same which was to play a disciplined zone defense against him. That completely takes away the primary thing he's good at offensively, penetrating the lane. Almost the entire game Simmons didn't know what to do offensively because his normal driving lanes just weren't there. Until he shows the ability to be an outside threat, these well coached teams will play zone and force him to make plays on the perimeter. The blueprint is now apparent on how to shut down Simmons. Expect OU to do the same thing to Simmons as well.

I think he adjusts well at times. Maybe not last night, but I think you're getting CLM confused with CJJ.

Lol @ you believing tamu is a well coached team. Maybe it's the fact they start 4 seniors. Tamu is a legit final 4 contender that's how they shut Simmons down. Uf did the same thing but Ben put up 28.

Step1: go to google flights
Step2: select one way
Step3: BTR as departure airport
Step4: Bye Felicia

These threads are hilarious. A&M is one of the best defensive teams in the country, and one of the best overall teams.

It doesn't matter how many seniors they have. Point is TAMU demonstrated how to completely take Simmons out of the game, a player whom we lean on heavily for production.

But what I am saying is plenty of other teams have tried this. It doesn't always work because they aren't good enough. Everyone knows Ben doesn't shoot he drives. A&M didn't set a blueprint they just executed. Something contenders do.

So all the opponent has to do is have one of the most talented teams in the country, get Victor in foul trouble, and have some good big men attack him at the rim without fouling. Then they'll have to have LSU's guards also miss wide open, zone busting 3s.

Blueprint.

Well, if your goal is to win the title you have to beat the best.

Some of the 3s LSU guards were taking weren't all great shots. There were plenty of forced shots after not being able to work the ball around. All of which were dictated by TAMU's defense.

Bottom line is that this teams depends entirely too much on Simmons. If Simmons is taken out of the game by an opponent, then we don't have another play maker on the perimeter that can create for others. The only once close to being able to do that is TQ and his head is in his arse right now.

The point of this thread is to discuss what adjustments should JJ make when his star player is being held in check, which TAMU did a damn good job limiting Simmons looks offensively.

Buddy, how can you not even mention Victor being in foul trouble and being on the bench for what seemed like the majority of the game? Do you not consider that a major factor to the loss?

All you have for us is "they shut Bennie down"??? Surely there were other factors to consider? Surely....

Name a team that doesn't deal with managing foul trouble? It's a part of the game. A couple of Victor's fouls were due to him having bad position and reaching. Those things are going to happen though when you play as hard as he does.

TAMU did a great job of being discipline and their coach made some nice adjustments to take away what we do best offensively. We weren't able to penetrate the lane effectively which kept their bigs out of foul trouble.
