The baseball team got off on a bad foot last week with the loss to Tulane. The week wasn't as bad as losing the series to Alabama and aTm; but we are stll a ranked team (ahead of piss); and have a pleasant surprise with the addition of Valek.

If Lange finds dominance, at some point, we may squeak out a few games we weren't supposed to win.

I stil see us hosting a regional.

We are 4-5 and will need to finish 14-7 to host a regional and we have yet to play Vandy or UF.

Do not go off of our ranking. If there were no rankings for the first 7 weeks and this was the first one released, we wouldn't even sniff the top 25.

Ok. And I know it's a BIG "what if," Elle; but what if Lange comes on with dominance?

Can't a man dream?

After Novemeber, March and the Bammer series...

Can't a man get something?

Even if he comes around, you aren't acknowledging our second biggest problem. I'm glad we went 2-1 vs Auburn and Romero is now a fixture, but their pitching is worse than Sac St.

Allot of baseball is about pitching. The good news is-we have it. It's about timing, as well.

It's also about rallying, steam rolling ahead and getting hot at the end. Maybe this very young baseball team can do what our young football and basketball teams couldn't do...rise to their potential.

Do we? Present tense? I thought this was an "if" thread.

After bama's staff shut us down, they promptly lost 4 of the next 5 games. We beat an aubbie pitcher yesterday that had thrown 101 pitches in a mid wk game earlier in the wk. The weenie's pitcher is average at best. Sweeps by the gators and the Dors is not unimaginable with their staffs. We are a young & inexperienced team whose staff is not strong enough to carry the team like preseason expectations predicted.

At what point does the inexperienced excuse stop getting used? SECT?

I'm not disagreeing with it. It's one of the reasons I think we should have had a more difficult OOC. We went into SEC completely unprepared and the coaches still looking for a set lineup 4 weeks into the SEC.

We will get swept to UF and Vandy

Our best hope is that UF has a top 8 seed locked up when they come in.

Yeah. It rolled around on us kind of quick. As good as Duplantis was in OOC play; he didn't look like LSU's prototypical 4-hole hitter.

But hey, neither does our best pitcher fit the mold right now.

Both UF and Vandy are at home so I can see us getting at least one in each of those two series. I have no doubt that Poche and Valek can give the offense a chance against those two teams and Lange just a week ago against A&M showed he can show up and possibly be dominant.

Inexperience is a factor whether you like it or not.

What to look for is improvement and eventually more Ws than Ls in SEC action.

For how long can I use it as an excuse is the question. Seriously.

This is what I was thinking in the OP. And if we can get Lange to dominate; then maybe we squeak by a few.
