I don’t doubt that Tennessee will be a tough out one way or another but skenes is probably the toughest out in the country for any team. Laughable to put their guy over skenes

Eh, he is just a homer. We have them too. Hell, I'm one of them.

ETA: to be clear, the guy is 100% wrong.

We did this already. We don’t have to speculate. I watched the game

Other than Do being better than Skenes right now, he might not be wrong. Do might have a better career in the Majors., but probably not.

Tennessee might also have the best pitching staff this year top to bottom. We’ll find out next week. It might be Wake or it could be LSU with the way they’re pitching right now.

That was painful to read. Obviously Steventh78 never set foot inside of a UT classroom

Everything he said is wrong

Skenes is getting the hype because he’s by FAR the best pitcher in the country.

And Wake’s staff is better from top to bottom.

Is Dollander or Lindsey going Saturday? USM hit Lindsey pretty well.

Looked at the stats page from another thread and laughed when I saw the stat comparisons for Skenes & Dollander

ERA: Skenes 1.77 (1st); Dollander outside top 15 so higher than 4.26
Opp BA: Skenes .170 (1st); Dollander outside top 15 so higher than .235
Innings: Skenes 107 (1st); Dollander 86.0 (5th)
Strike Outs: Skenes 188 (1st); Dollander 118 (4th)
Wins: Skenes 12 (1st); Dollander outside top 17 so less than 7 (think I saw it was 6)
Losses: Skenes 2 (outside bottom 20); Dollander 6 (most in SEC)
Runs allowed: Skenes 26 (1st); Dollander outside top 15 so higher than 41
Walks allowed: Skenes 18 (3rd); Dollander 28 (13th)

I realize stats never tell the entire story, but when they are this lopsided, they tell most of the story

Skenes has had one of the most dominant seasons ever.

Dollander had a pretty remarkable season last season, but has struggled at times this season.

They’re the top 2 MLB pitching prospects this season. They’re both incredible pitchers and you will likely see them both have success in the big leagues.

While I do think skenes is better, dollander ain’t anything to shake a stick at, especially if Tennessee gets a lead, he pitches much better with a lead.

I don't mind most of that opinion or the confidence but anyone who says any pitcher in college baseball is better than Skenes is just dumb. Tennessee could certainly still win the game though.

Also, I would expect them to start Lindsey...

I love the comment about LSU not playing in Baton Rouge. LSU is 15-8 outside BR. Tennessee is 9-15 outside Knoxville.

Especially considering how their offense is going to be nonexistent in that cavernous park. They might not score Saturday.

Dollander is a great pitcher in the college game, and he will have a good or great pro career.

But Skenes does physical things that arent duplicated by anyone in the game, at any level. I am not saying he is the best pitcher in the game at all or even close to some of those guys in MLB. But he is a different breed.
