Why?

Because nothing says "I have confidence in my starting QB who is supposed to be a leader on this team" by yanking him in the redzone for a freshman. LSU just did the QB carousel thing for the last few yrs and succeeded in spite of it.

They lost their very talented DB/nickle that used to play for LSU and their stud DE.

They did however play the most freshmen in the country last year (LSU was 2nd), they return their QB who was suspended last year and under whom they've had success, and lastly they played without their top 3 RBs last year all of which are back.

Gary Patterson is a damn good coach, the game is in Dallas, and anything can happen to open the season.

We should not underestimate this team. Last year was a fluke for them. They literally lost every single one of their offensive playmakers and had the youngest defense in the country.

fair enough. but if mett cant get it done and jennings can, I wouldn't be opposed to him taking over full time. May the best player win.

agree. Just illustration the fact that our game will hold up just fine against them. they will probably be the 4th-5th best team we play but it will be the first of the season so we should most definitely take it seriously. unlike clemson.

Unless we have a rash of injuries/suspensions, like last year, our offense will be much more dynamic and balanced.

We also have a pretty solid 2 deep on the DL. Fields being out blows so the pass rush will suffer. Run defense surprises everyone. They think the 4-2-5 is a pass defense. In our scheme, we want to force you to go to the air. It will appear we have 9 in the box at times. Just bait to throw the ball. Almost everyone falls for it. We drop into exotic coverages hoping to confuse the QB into bad decisions.

Should be a very interesting game!

I think it comes down to how many plays your receivers can make against our corners and if your QB can deliver the ball accurately.

Not sure if I am confident enough in LSU passing game to win the game if needed, especially in Game 1 with a new scheme.

Well you better get confident. Cameron wants to throw to the WRs, the TEs, and the RBs, a lot. I believe TCU's strength is more in their front 7 and Cam wants to throw deep and attack their secondary.

This is what we did to Bama last year and it worked well. We also did it to ATM, but Mett overthrew about 5 deep passes which could have gone for TDs.

TCU's DC is Dick Bumpus and he is every bit as good a coach as John Chavis. He has been national DC of the year and understands the kind of football LSU plays.

We may catch them a bit thin and I believe the Tigers will be ready. TCU does not play teams with the size and speed of LSU.

Cannot wait...

Yea, both of those scenarios involved a bigger team that was disappointed to be there along with a smaller/less talented program that was ecstatic to be there. One had to win the game with a field goal with no time left, and the other one had to execute a slew of improbable trick plays to have a chance. This is the first game of the season and LSU will finally be able to hit someone other than themselves in practice. Both teams will be hungry. But yea, any team can get up for a single game.

Unbelievable! I didn't watch the Boise State game, but they blew Georgia out. Boise State led by 3 touchdowns twice. Also, how could Georgia not want to be there when this was a regular season game? You think Georgia likes to play teams that are less respectable than Boise State?

Why worried? We have the surprise factor. They will not know what we will do (Thank God for Cam and not that (Les than Studrawa) predictable thing!!!

We have Cam that will have one hell of a breakout gameplan. We roll TCU in the Air and on the Ground. We will finally use the air to open up the run and we will be mixed and unpreadictable (I hope)

TCU will do what every other Team has done since Miles arrived. Stack 8 or 9 in the box until 3rd down just like Alabama and everyone else-- until LSU exhibits some success throwing the ball. Finally after 5 years, Miles has wised up enough to bring in someone who can hopefully help him with play calling and execution .(if Miles turns loose of the offense). LSU has absolutley been painfull to watch offensively.--Take a look at statistics and rankings for the LSU offense over the last years. The Alabama game last year should have been ours with the surprising success of the passing game. We can only hope!!

I was doing research in Dec.2012 on Clemson for the Chicken bowl and the last time they scored on LSU's defense was in 1958 which was 55 years ago. This year they were terabull ! Couldn't stop the run, couldn't stop the pass, and couldn't score. Guess what ? They beat our asses !!!

Any DC should load the box until LSU proves it can throw.

was doing research on TCU's run defense and discovered the last time TCU lost a game when giving up 150 rushing yards or more was in 2007 when they lost to Wyoming.

Check again.

Last year alone they gave up

Virginia 164 Win
Iowa St 152 Loss
Okie St 147 Loss
KSU 115 Loss
Michigan 177 Loss
OU 123 Loss

quote:

This means that TCU gets beat by teams that throw the ball.

They have a great pass defense. With 4 guys who could get drafted and 1 maybe 2 potential 1st round picks in their secondary

It's as if some of you live in a different universe. That Boise team would have beaten that UGA team 10 out of 10 times. They fvcking ripped UGA's dicks off and fed them to their mothers.

If you followed college football you'd know that every member from that Boise DL is now in the NFL and they had the best run defense in the nation that year. They slaughtered UGA, zero fluke.

Yea people have no idea how good TCU's defense has been, and the 4-2-5 allows so much flexibility in numbers and fits against the run.

LSU wins, but TCU gives them everything they can handle.

Lol, LSU fans still saying Clemson "got up" for a game in which they lost their top WR on the first play and still proceeded to torch a vaunted defense through the air?

Watkins was not Clemson's top WR last year. He was basically going through a sophomore slump almost the whole year. Hopkins was easily the best WR on the team last year.

And none of them have done much in the NFL. Though they were great in college and they definitely didn't have the best run defense in the nation. Not even top 10.
