Keeping roster starved teams doesnt work in college basketball. Cant play with 9 or 10 scholarship players each year

That's what frustrated me more than anything. Holding scholarships for a year that never came.

Big 12 will obliterate them

He has won 2 conference games in two years, he will be lucky to win 4 this year. Still the worst hire in LSU ath history. Smoke, Curly and TJ...tied. Won with Brady's players then sent this program into a tailspin like I hope we will never see again. TCU did us a favor.

He was just an absolutely terrible recruiter.
I know we only have 11 scholarship players this year, but that's after JJ had to cut some left over fat still. JJ has made it very clear if you cant contribute you have no place here. Malone is probably the #11 player on the team this year and you can tell when he does play he has a fire lit under his arse, he doesn't wanna go anywhere. I really dont think JJ wanted to see Hickey go, but he just couldnt deal with his BS anymore. 12 scholarship players would have been money for us this year, with 5 guards instead of just 4.

Wow. It appears your LSU history on goes back 20 years or so. He wasn't great but he did win an outright SEC title, something Jones has yet to do (or even really come close to doing)

TJ can coach X&Os..he just can't recruit for sh!t.
He's like a Bizarro World Johnny Jones.

He won with Brady's HEALTHY talent. Kentucky is on another level from everyone in the country. TJ was lucky to walk in here when he did, we all saw what he did with his talent.

You think going 25-5 and winning an outright SEC crown, albeit with the SEC POY, is easy to do, even in a somewhat down year? Or giving UNC it's only scare in the NCAA Tourney
That 2009 team had an Iron Five starting unit, and the bench went a quality two deep..that requires coaching to navigate the year. That team was fairly good fundamentally, boxed out, communicated,etc..sign of good coaching.
Even if the lionshare of credit that year goes to the players and their deep minutes per game.
And I'm not a TJ fan, never was even before hire. But, the man has a strong basketball IQ.

First the schedule is soft and they will come back to Earth once conference starts.
He was a bad fit at LSU, but who recruited JOB and Josh Hamilton to play for the Tigers. They didn't come here on their own. It would have been nice for him to fill out the roster, but he didn't actually recruit all scrubs. Hickey, Stringer, and Warren weren't bad players. He definitely had some players who ended up being busts, but don't just randomly say the guy couldn't recruit. Coaching and develop Thornton and Temple, and recruiting and helping JOB and Hamilton get to the league isn't a bad thing(4 NBA players during his tenure at LSU). I just wish it would have turned into some more wins for the Tigers.
For the Record: Coached and developed 9 NBA Players(This just doesn't happen by accident)
Lopez Brothers
Landry Fields
Kirk Snyder
Nick Fazekas
Marcus Thorton
Garrett Temple
JOBryant

1. They've played probably the worst schedule possible
2. It is possible for a coach to not do so hot at one place, and work well with another.
3. Again with the schedule. Let's compare their ranking to LSU's in mid February if you want.

I'm not saying he's a bad coach by any means. His philosophy is some what out dated IMO. but 4 of those guys on that list he had for one year.

He had nothing to do with developing anyone he coached for one year

This...his system is very simple which isn't necessarily a bad thing, but IMHO that requires superior talent to succeed and he never really had that here, which is on him.
And inbounds sets, he had none because I think he never wanted to score quickly, he wanted to always shorten the game, so basically just getting the ball inbounds was his only goal there.
