My biggest concern is getting my rental car. Just had a bad experience in Atlanta when we got there and Thrifty said they had no cars and it could take up to 4 hours to get one even though I had a reservation. Had same problem here in Baton Rouge when hurricane Laura hit. FEMA and the insurance companies took all of the rental cars. My son had a wreck and we had reserved a car but when we got there they said the car was never on their lot. There were no cars anywhere in Baton Rouge. If you are renting a car then there should be some concern. I'm Flying into Tampa and driving to Orlando Saturday.

It can only be better than getting a car in New Orleans on a good day.

Try using Turo. I’ve had nothing but great experiences with every Turo rental.

Turo

You can often get better car rentals at a cheaper rate than a conventional rental car company.

Saturday to Sunday from the Tampa airport

Are you flying to Tampa for other reasons? Not trying to be a jerk or anything but If it’s just to get to Orlando, why not check and see if you can change your flight to fly to Orlando? Although they’ll probably charge you for it since it’s so close to the date.

Taxi or rideshare would probably cost just as much, if not cheaper, with the rate rentals will be at after the storm hits.

FEMA may snap up a bunch by Thursday/Friday. They will have priority for sure.
