Was really a down to earth guy. I asked him how he liked it at LSU and you could just see that glow come over his face. Said it was like winning the lottery a dream come true. Loves LSU and Louisiana.

He did ask if the Nicholls State games are always like this I said, only when LSU comes to play.

He does a weekly interview on the radio in Lafayette. Pretty much the only time I've heard him besides calling games. Sounds like a good guy.

You find he has not been doing a good job? I can't lie I have heard bits here and there. I have not listen to a whole game called yet, but I thought he has been doing a pretty good job so far.

I am trying to like him but up until now I just can't get into his style. I know he is "professional" but to me he comes across as an (unbiased)ESPN announcer calling an LSU game more than an LSU announcer calling an LSU game.

It's still early I'll keep my fingers crossed he will get more excitement toward LSU.

Yeah look I get it. We just need to give him some time the guy is only 8 games into his LSU career.

The parts I have heard have been mediocre IMO. I don't like the starting lineups without BA's. He misses pitches, calls them late. JH was very descriptive with calling the game. It will take time to get used to his calls.

I'd love that paycheck too regardless of the school.

He was, but what he was describing wasn't what was actually taking place.

I know Doug Thompson has to be on his toes since he is officially part of the home telecasts. Last year he could get away with some of his commentary, Blair has called him out a few times you can tell.

Blair has been decent but with SEC Network + I don't listen to radio games much at all anymore.

It is refreshing for baseball so far that he calls a pretty good game as opposed to Hawthorne who was so negative and couldn't stand Hanagrift.

Does Blair do play by play entire game or does he turn it over for middle innings like Hawthorne did?

Yeah I think for the most part this is true now being that just about all the football, basketball and baseball games are on TV now a days. One rarely listens to the radio like we did years back before the SECN.

Maybe I'm in the minority, but I actually like his calls quite a bit. I feel like I know what's going on and I don't get the negativity like Hawthorne when things aren't going well.

Mr.Blair is doing a great job. I like his broadcasts. It is more like he is calling a major league broadcast rather than Hawthorne calling a college game. Everyone is used to Jim. It will take time for Chris to become the Voice.

Doug seems a little timid on the commentary. Almost like he is nervous. Not sure how that will play out with Chris.

You have to remember that he had very little experience in baseball before this year. He will be a lot better for football.

Ranters here were ripping JH for yrs. In every sport. Now that he's gone, or almost, doing only basketball, his replacement, after only 8 games, is not good enough or lacks this or that. 8 games into his LSU career. I like what I've heard so far & figure he'll only get better as he settles in.

or the excitement when LSU is playing well. JH was an LSU fan PB isn't...yet. I never understood the criticism of JH being negative. When LSU is playing bad or calls are going against them I don't want to hear a PBP guy acting like everything is ok. I like the emotions to mirror my own.

I am a harsh critic who is usually critical of everything and everybody, and I think Blair sounds great.

I wish his sales people would give him a chance, though, by not handcuffing him with an ad read every five seconds. Let the damn broadcast breathe, let the guy (and, more importantly, the fans) be able to keep up with the action and pass up a buck for once.

My acid test for PBP announcers is trying to keep an accurate scorecard strictly from their PBP. I haven't tried yet with Chris Blair. I listen to parts of the game broadcast while watching in person and he seems to be pretty accurate with his calls. That is my primary desire for PBP broadcasters.
