1989 Tom Hodson was 1st Team All SEC QB. He threw for 2655 yards and 22 TD's. LSU went 4-7 in 1989.

Yup. Good thing we've got a Heisman candidate RB and a dominant D to accompany our QB, right?

Hell, only 8 QBs have won a Heisman and National Championship in the same season

By 1989, LSU, particularly on defense, was starting to feel the tightening noose that was Archer's epic recruiting futility.

And what's the main one we've been lacking?

The problem is we've had everything but a QB for so long.

Well, NO JOKE?! Takes an OL, WR, TE, QB, RB, DL, LB, CB, SS, FS, DE, and ST's. Gotta have it all if you wanna win a championship. I think we have many of the pieces needed too.

I agree with your thread title bc it does take alot more than a qb...it takes an entire team playing as a unit. However, I disagree with your team you used as an example, because this year's LSU team has alot more talent on the roster than the team in 89 did. We are absolutely loaded. We just need some guys to step up and fill roles, some freshmen to contribute on the field, and we need to play sound fundamentally and not beat ourselves. If all of that happens, which i beieve it will, we will be tough to beat by anybody. Geaux tigers.

No doubt. This thread doesnt even make sense considering QB is routinely our weakest spot. We're pretty good everywhere else.

What's the point of the thread as it relates to LSU?

And an OL that can't consistently pass block without breakdowns because 1 or 2 didn't know their assignment.

Seems that Grimes just can't get 5 starters that are all on the same page most of the time.

Right, the coach with the best winning percentage ever at LSU wasn't a coach. been waiting for a reason to use this GIF. Thanks
