Awesome segment on one of the best players to ever put on purple and gold. Will be missed. Thanks LF for everything you did for this university and the way you represented it.

SVP is the last of dying breed. A sports journalist that is a journalist 1st and an entertainer 2nd. Too often these days its reversed (and not just in sports journalism)

I feel sorry for Fournette, because he could have went anywhere in America and chose to stay home. His offensive coaching gave him little if any support and it is really sad that he never won any sort of championships for LSU.

I think his goal was to put his talents on full display in order to get to the NFL. Mission accomplished. I don't think LF7 has any regrets.

So he is not a competitor and does not want to win championships? It is all about the money and the NFL for Fournette?

I realize you are speaking of team championships, but he did win the 2015 NCAA rushing championship. No SEC back did that since leather helmet days, including Herschel and Bo.

Main goal for college sports is to make it to the next level, just like scholars in college, it is about giving yourself the best opportunity to succeed in the future

Championships are 2nd priority for the star player in college, in reality at least

I understand what you're saying, but don't feel sorry for a world class athlete that's about to rake in millions. Feel sorry for the rest of us

I have a feeling that in decades we will look back and still reflect on the years we had LF7 N DG5 on same team the way we do Shaq n Chris Jackson now.

So aside from his home state team which had won two NCs and played in a rematch for another in recent years, which school should be have chosen as his path to championships and high-level competition?? Arch-rival Alabama?? Or a lower level competition conference like The Little 12 where zero defense is played and the number of quality NFL running backs is no more revered than SEC running backs??

Nice shot, OU&12 - in Fournette's case, it was about loyalty to his home state and a belief that LSU would continue to compete for championships - he will be honored by LSU fans and LA residents years after he's gone from this world.

P.S. And, the insinuation that LSU is a 2nd tier school shows your bandwagon loyalty to LSU - most schools would stiil be an underdog against this 4-loss team. Maybe a little more respect is in order for LSU than what your post implies.

Easy for them to take a clear shot of that I-10 sign while sitting in traffic coming down off the new bridge
