UCLA looks VERY beatable esp if Flau Jae can defend / shut down Kiki and Angel and others keep the giant 6-7 Bruin girl in check in the paint

I wouldn't bet Iowa gets past Colorado ('buffs are faster than the hawks and have overall a better squad) but that gives LSU add'l fire to revenge-win for the season's first loss

I was NOT impressed watching UCLA, USC, and Stanford. The PAC 10/12 is good, but a bit overrated in WBB. LSU has the best starting 5 in WBB, and they will be a tough out in the tourney for any opponent.

Yeah, I really didn't see anything we should be worried about. Same goes for Iowa. They don't impress me either.

Iowa struggled against WV with slopping play and only pulled away in last two minutes. Clark made some free throws but was a bit off in field shots. If they play like they did against WV, they will lose to Colorado. Tough bet.

Agreed. Caitlin Clark is the hype machine for Iowa. They are the media darlings, but their team isn’t all that impressive. They lost the big center from last season. They can shoot the 3 ball, so shutdown the rest of them and do a decent defensive job on Clark to win. They may not get past CU on Saturday.

Not sure if Iowa gets past Colorado without help from the refs. Iowa does not have much talent on their team except for Clark.

I’m convinced the officiating in women’s basketball is rigged. It’s that obvious. They HAVE to have the teams that draw audiences advance. They don’t have the luxury of the men’s tournament obviously. LSU v Iowa if we get there will be insane. Iowa will get all calls. Just watch.

You think the zebras will let that happen again?

Free throws Iowa vs WV was 25-5. I thought Iowa's girl in the middle fouled out three times and they kept putting fouls on WV. They even reviewed the tapes and passed of fouls to WV. WV's coach could have done a better job and if the try to shoot closer to the basket instead of just 3's Iowa is sitting home today.

Yeah, I am in no way pulling for or against Iowa, but I watched the end of that Iowa v. WV game, and on multiple occasions actually rewinded the game to see if I was crazy or if they were calling phantom fouls on WV and only muggings on the other end.

Also, CC took about 7 steps with the ball in both hands when she caught a pass late in the game right in front of the refs that had me looking sideways at the screen. She basically caught the ball and settled with 2 steps... ok, then shuffled her feet backwards 3 steps as she continued to settle, then lifted her pivot foot and replaced it further backwards when the defender approached then took another step before dribbling.

You could see WV getting frustrated at the end and getting more physical with them because of the lack of even officiating.

I think CC is as talented a guard/shooter that has existed in college WBB, but the hype around her affords her and her team all of the close calls, and her (and her teammates) free throws are pretty automatic. Makes it hard to win close games against Iowa! They are very good without the help, but the calls will tilt the game without a truly flawless effort from an equally or more talented team that can take a more commanding lead into the late minutes of the game.

Would be great but 1 half in 4 of decent play does not lead to a win against good teams.

According to Vegas, we have the toughest matchup in the sweet 16. I think we can beat UCLA, but they have some big girls. If Makayla Williams and Van Lith are on, we win in my opinion. If they are off like they were against So Carolina, we won’t, cause UCLA is going to try and get Reese in foul trouble and Del Rosario is not ready yet.

Agree. I think Williams and HVL are the keys to how far we go in this tourney. I don't need the Kent State Williams (not that I wouldn't take it), but if we can get something between Kent State and USCe out of her, that will go a long way. And I we can get Poa in to run the point a bit more and let HVL have more shooting duties, I think we can repeat.

This teams biggest key is sharing the basketball. Everything else comes naturally for us and is elite. IF this teams has good ball movement I don't think we can be beat.
